I have 17 consecutive profitable trades of 15% or better. How is this possible? Every day there are hundreds of stocks setting new highs, no matter what happens in the overall market. Many of these stocks are still at very reasonable valuations. Afraid of buying stocks at their highs? Think of it this way: a new high is really a future floor for companies with solid financial underpinnings. Quantitative momentum modeling makes it easy to identify stocks that can continue this upward momentum trend. Why does this happen? It's really very simple..ask me about what investors and cows have in common. I am $$$ MR. MARKET $$$. I AM HUGE!!! Bring me your finest meats and cheeses. You can join in on the fun. Home home on the range…where the dear and the antelope playyyyy…There’s no place like home. There’s no place like home. There’s no place like home…Aunty Em! Aunty Em!

Today I bought MDC M.D.C. Holdings at 51.25. I will sell it in 4 – 6 weeks at 59.40. M.D.C. Holdings (MDC) owns and manages subsidiary companies that build and sell homes under the name Richmond American Homes. The company also provides mortgage loans and title agency services primarily to its home buyers.
    Here’s why I like MDC:

First of all, what’s not to like? Mortgage rates continue to be near historic lows, with no indication of anything to change in the near term. I owned this puppy back in early 2001 and it is the first stock in my string of 52 consecutive trades.

MDC stock is up 59% over the last 12 months with a P/E of only 9. It’s IBD rating is an A+.

In April, MDC said it closed on 1,674 homes and received orders for 2,776 homes during the first quarter of 2002, and reported a quarter-end backlog of 3,984 homes with a sales value of over $1 billion. The company also announced a definitive agreement to acquire most of the homebuilding assets of W. L. Homes LLC, consisting of over 1,600 lots in Nevada and more than 800 lots in Utah. The acquisition, expected to close in mid-April, would position MDC as one of the top five builders in the Las Vegas market. Oh ho ho Las Vegas!! Bet Bet Bet!!! Gimmeee quatloops! Gimmeee Olympic Gardens!!

Total revenues for the three months ended March 31, 2002, advanced 8.7%, year to year, due to a $33,000 increase in the average selling price of homes closed, favorable construction weather in most markets, and higher mortgage loan origination fees, gains on mortgage loan sales and interest revenues, partly offset by fewer home closings. Total operating expenses rose at a slower rate than revenues, and net income rose 10%, to $32.3 million ($1.16 a share), from $29.3 million ($1.09). In a market where evryone is crying about how to make a buck, MDC is falling over money.

Revenues are up 119% over the last 4 years. Earnings are up over 400% over the same period. Are you kidding me??? Revenue growth rate outpaces the industry as does EPS growth.

Return on Assets is 14%. Return on equity is 27%. Insane!

165 DENVER, July 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- M.D.C. Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: MDC; PCX) ( www.RichmondAmerican.com ) today announced the highest second quarter home orders, home closings and quarter-end backlog in the Company's history. The Company received orders for 2,753 homes and 5,529 homes, respectively, during the second quarter and first six months of 2002, compared with orders for 1,973 homes and 4,700 homes, respectively, for the same periods in 2001. The home orders for 2002 included 956 orders received in June, representing a 50% increase from the 638 home orders received in June 2001. Larry A. Mizel, MDC's chairman and chief executive officer, stated, "We are pleased to report our fourth consecutive month of record home orders. These increases in home orders, which are expected to contribute home closings primarily early next year, should further our previously disclosed goal to close more than 10,000 homes and produce record revenues and earnings in 2003."

I guess old Larry is basically telling us that they will destroy their numbers this quarter. All this, and combined with the fact that they pay a dividend, and a P/E of 8.8 means to me that this is a pretty safe investment going forward. But then again, I never thought the All Star game would end in a tie.

    Default MDC paid div's too

Ernie did ya figure in the dividends MDC paid out during the time frame you held them? It just paid out 12.5 cents in june.
You probably made an extra .5% or so in div's, which you are entitled to include in your performance record.

You are the Hugest....keep it up and thanx for giving us this new site

Well....since I didn't say I'd receive dividends in my prediction, I'm afraid that would cause me to break that streak if I included them in my sale price....LOL! LOL! LOL!!!!!
