I have 17 consecutive profitable trades of 15% or better. How is this possible? Every day there are hundreds of stocks setting new highs, no matter what happens in the overall market. Many of these stocks are still at very reasonable valuations. Afraid of buying stocks at their highs? Think of it this way: a new high is really a future floor for companies with solid financial underpinnings. Quantitative momentum modeling makes it easy to identify stocks that can continue this upward momentum trend. Why does this happen? It's really very simple..ask me about what investors and cows have in common. I am $$$ MR. MARKET $$$. I AM HUGE!!! Bring me your finest meats and cheeses. You can join in on the fun. Register for free and you'll be able to post messages on this forum and also receive emails when $$$ MR. MARKET $$$ makes his own trades. ($$$MR. Default PotY Contest Standings As of Market Close, Dec 30, 2022

Weil, here it is: The unofficial (they need to be blessed by John Henry) final standings for the 2022 PotY contest. Congratulations to BillyJoe with a really strong pick, UTHR, in a down market. A 37.76% return during a market in which the Dow was down 5.63%, the S&P was down 15%, and the NASDAQ was down a massive 26.65% is pretty darn good in my book. Congrats also to second and third place finishers Mr. Market with TLPPF and Antioch with GRBK. As for the rest of us, better luck year and the year after that too because this bear market is going to be around for a while, I think. Have a great New Year everyone and thank you for participating in the 2022 PotY contest.

Happy New Year and Congratulation to BillyJoe with a kick ass gain of 37.76 percent to take first place in the Pick of The Year 2022 Contest in a horrible market. That’s two first place titles in four years (2019 and 2022).

Second place goes to Mr. Market with a minimal lost. Back to back second place titles (2021 and 2022). Top three since 2020.

Third place goes to Antioch. Even with a 20 percent penalty he was able to keep his lost to a single digit.

Happy New Year friends and thank you for taking part in our little 2022 Pick of The Year Contest.

Please show our appreciation and please give a round of applause to BlueWolf for the weekly write-ups for the Pick of The Year Contest for the past three years.

    Many thanks BlueWolf.

Default 2022 PotY Mock Portfolio As of 12/31/22 (~ $2000 positions)

I did a mock portfolio again this year in which I opened $2,000 (approximately) positions in each pick. The portfolio didn’t take into account any penalties, so we ended up with two positions in the green. Needless to say, but I’ll say it anyway, we didn’t fare too well this year. As a group, we ended up losing 35.02% of our mock investment. Just two short years ago, we showed a 68.49% gain. What happened? Oh that’s right, we had a global pandemic, we brought ourselves to the brink of a world war, and the government started printing money like a Monopoly factory to pay for it all. Anyway, here’s the mock portfolio if anyone is interested:

Congrats to Billyjoe...great pick. Bluewolf - great job covering! JohnHenry - Super thread! Based on what I'm seeing in the job market and trends in inflation, I think a softer landing is in the cards....we will have an up year in 2023 with real momentum in the 2nd half. Be ready for another run of picks!

and thank you, too, Louetta, for bringing up GBTC so I could make a nice entry on it under $9. Just sold half of my position today for about $10 and about a 15% gain on it in a little over a month. Not bad for a little bit of coin....
