Quantcast
I have 17 consecutive profitable trades of 15% or better. How is this possible? Every day there are hundreds of stocks setting new highs, no matter what happens in the overall market. Many of these stocks are still at very reasonable valuations. Afraid of buying stocks at their highs? Think of it this way: a new high is really a future floor for companies with solid financial underpinnings. Quantitative momentum modeling makes it easy to identify stocks that can continue this upward momentum trend. Why does this happen? It's really very simple..ask me about what investors and cows have in common. I am $$$ MR. MARKET $$$. I AM HUGE!!! Bring me your finest meats and cheeses. You can join in on the fun. Default Safe Passage, Karel

I am saddened to report that I received this notice from Karel's brother, Ton Peijnenborg:

    Dear Ernie,

My brother Karel died Thursday afternoon.
He slipped silently away during my presence.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
    He enjoyed your friendship deeply.

    All the best, Ton Peijnenborg

Many of you who have been on this forum for a while got to know Karel, who lived in the Netherlands. Although we never met in real life, I got to know Karel for over 20 years. We first "met" on The Motley Fool website:

    https://boards.fool.com/mr-market-mo...&sort=postdate

where his intellectual curiosity got the best of him and he dove deeply into challenging, and grudgingly accepting, my method for stock picking. When The Motley Fool began charging a subscription we moved over to the Yahoo Groups and then finally, along with Richard, we moved the forum here. Karel graciously volunteered to manage this website for the last 18 years, gently plucking spammers from our midst and keeping the conversations civil and fun. For someone who used English as a 2nd language, Karel was incredibly articulate and witty online.

I admired Karel for his intelligence, sense of humor and for his amazing curiosity for all things new. Most of all, I appreciated his kindness. He was a great man and a good friend. I will certainly miss him. Safe passage, my friend.

I kept in touch periodically with Karel over the years through posts on facebook. Sometimes communication was difficult and stopped for months or longer at a time. Didn't Karel's beloved wife pass away and he remarried?
Above all he was a really decent guy, super intelligent, and loved by all. I don't know if Mr. Market picked Karel or Karel picked Mr.Market either way it was one for the ages.

Yes... Karel was fortunate to find love again with his dear Winnifred Peijnenborg who also, sadly, passed away in September. They are all together again now.

That's very tough news to hear, for everyone who has ever interacted with Karel. My condolences to his family in The Netherlands, and to his online family here, too. We will all miss him greatly. Rest in Peace, Karel, my friend.

Karel has been a name I have associated with Mr. Market from the early days and, while I did not know him, I too feel we have all suffered a great loss. My condolences to his family and all who knew him.
(I will look to make a donation of the finest meats and cheeses in his name.)
