Quantcast
I have 17 consecutive profitable trades of 15% or better. How is this possible? Every day there are hundreds of stocks setting new highs, no matter what happens in the overall market. Many of these stocks are still at very reasonable valuations. Afraid of buying stocks at their highs? Think of it this way: a new high is really a future floor for companies with solid financial underpinnings. Quantitative momentum modeling makes it easy to identify stocks that can continue this upward momentum trend. Why does this happen? It's really very simple..ask me about what investors and cows have in common. I am $$$ MR. MARKET $$$. I AM HUGE!!! Bring me your finest meats and cheeses. You can join in on the fun. Exclamation Rules for Pick of The Year (PoTY) 2017

    Happy New Year!

I was not planning to do Pick of The Year (PoTY) 2017. Several people requested that we continue.

I cannot guarantee a timely monthly update. If we are OK with this.

OK. Let us do it. Let us keep it simple as before.

Discard this line ========>Let us change it up and your picks must be ten dollars or greater.<======

You have until the end of January up to 11:59 PM PST to make a pick - starting price will be the closing price, (per Yahoo, unless it's shown that the Yahoo price is incorrect) the last trading day of January. Any stock trading on the NASDAQ, AMEX or NYSE is fair game, long or short.

We welcome IPOs if picked by the end of January and starting price will be the closing price of the IPO.

Picks submitted after January are welcome, but comes with a 20% penalty of the closing price.

Discussions and concerns are welcome. Good Luck!

Thank you for running this again.

I think we should make it over $5 rather than $10. Here is a link to Kiplinger for 8 stocks under $10 that has a few pretty good names. If the goal is largest gain in 11 months, looking at more speculative stocks (and therefore lower priced) seems to me to make sense.

If you look at the entry prices from 2016 - 4 of the eventual top 5 stocks were below $10.

And 4 out of the top 4. Actually, that could be seen as an argument for disallowing under-$10 stocks. I don’t mind one way or another.

This must be some kind of Socialist argument - why would anyone want to disallow WINNING stocks?

I wouldn’t call JohnHenry a socialist, but rather, he having graciously offered to do the POTY again, the benevolent dictator of the game. I just tried to see some sense in his proposal. I am fine with it, and if he changes his mind about it, I will be fine with the change too.
