Quantcast
I have 17 consecutive profitable trades of 15% or better. How is this possible? Every day there are hundreds of stocks setting new highs, no matter what happens in the overall market. Many of these stocks are still at very reasonable valuations. Afraid of buying stocks at their highs? Think of it this way: a new high is really a future floor for companies with solid financial underpinnings. Quantitative momentum modeling makes it easy to identify stocks that can continue this upward momentum trend. Why does this happen? It's really very simple..ask me about what investors and cows have in common. I am $$$ MR. MARKET $$$. I AM HUGE!!! Bring me your finest meats and cheeses. You can join in on the fun. Default Yahoo Historical Quotes Downloader.xls

Just thought I'd put this up here for anyone who needs or wants to download historical data from Yahoo Finance.

End Date is automatically set to the current date.
Start Date is set to 140 days in the past. Feel free to change either of these
Put in the tickers you want in column B under 'Symbol' and push the 'Get Prices' button. Excel will save a .csv file for each ticker in the same directory as the workbook.

I also have one that creates a new sheet in the workbook for each symbol if you don't want all the seperate files, but it is 10x slower.

Edit: I guess I can't upload it to the forum. PM me if you are interested and I can email it to ya. It's pretty slick.

OK, here is the downloader. I finally succeeded in uploading it, after some fiddling. There seemed to be something wrong with the upload permissions. Anyway. I zipped the file together with the (necessary!) Data folder.

    Karel,

When I click on "Get Prices", I get a disabled macros message. What is the magic word to get this thing running?

    Thanks.
