I should have bought it with every dime I had at $66.
I must admit to being a tad let down.
Since there are no options for FRGB and I am under the impression that NBB likes options.

ok, i'm cracking under the pressure already ....
my thought was to go short because it has been doing SO WELL! that it can't possibly keep goin' on like this ... in fact, i'm 2-cents away from selling at a second 15% ...
i am bullish on it, so if i have time, i'll change to frgb (baby) long ...

I just thought I'd take the opportunity to tease you. Today's bullish breakout signals an up move, but it might retest the support line before moving up again. Still, there are a lot better shorts out there :D

By the way Rob, How much is Lye paying you to run this contest? Is he giving you benefits? Paid Vacations? Sick leave?
If not, you should consider protesting.

Hey this is fun-especially since NT finished the week better than it started. Beginners luck for me!
I would like to stay long in NT for next week.
I think Mike Z (CEO) is going to say something on April 6th(I am not watching this real carefully) but I expect NT to really go up or down next week.
Thanks
Bob
I'm taking IMCL long on Monday morning.
It's going to be a wild ride Monday. Whether it's up or down is the $64,000 question. The reason is that Amgen is going to release test results on their drug to compete with Erbitux.

Rob,
NVAX - long - I own the stock and think it has very good prospects from this point of entry to $9.50/10 range on this next move up. Nice daily chart. This one is just shaking out right now and should be breaking out above recent highs this coming week. Place a stop at $7.42 (7% = $.55). Risking
$.55 to gain $1.50/2.00.
http://img419.imageshack.us/img419/900/nvax1bm.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
I would also keep an eye on CSCO April $22.50 calls at .15 bid and .20 asked this coming week. If you can get them at .15 Monday morning. I like CSCO to go back over $22 this week. I had 300 of these contracts this week from .15 and bailed this pm at .25 and .20. The stock just couldn't break thru $22 today and banged up against that resistance all day long. I also like the stock long from here but would hold off until at least !0 am before doing anything. You might get it cheaper. If you get the calls at .15 and CSCO goes over $22 you'll easily get .25 out of the options. If it goes over $22.50, which it has been knocking on the door repeatedly of late, that option could easily go to $1.00. Still 3 weeks left to expiration on this call.

CELL for me please! And congratulations, MickeyMouse, great win!
Lye, I am distressed. We have hardly started the POTW+, and the averages go down the drain! Reset, start afresh. What now? The easy thing to do is start with the best 10 of the last period (Congratulations!), and then the first 10 after the first round, et cetera. But it looks rather dumb. For something like an "H" factor, a moving 13 week average would be a much smarter idea, but I am not going to compute it. It is your "H" factor, after all. You name it!
BTW, my Mechanical fund got trashed soundly, both by the POTW+ and the POTW. Because this is now a three way game (Is the POTW+ better than the POTW?), I award 2 points for the winner, POTW (2.8%), 1 point for number two, POTW+ (0.9%) and 0 points for number last, my MF (-0.2%).
POTW: 2
POTW+: 1

I like that idea very much, Karel. In fact, I'll volunteer to track the 13 week average on a biweekly basis. I'll call it the "K" factor. I think resetting the averages is a good idea to get the interest in the contest renewed, but keeping track of the last 13 weeks regardless is even better. Look for a "special K" factor as an added bonus, too. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
Congrats Lye on your outstanding performance for the quarter! Mickey is also HUGE!! Now let's see if you can both repeat that awesome perfomance.

Hey Rob great pick !!! -Yo! Amgen's P-mab results were luke warm at best. This afternoon was a great IMCL buying opportunity, and this baby's going to pay off. I'm a little surprised there wasn't any more action today than there was. No ... I'm a lot surprised! One theory is that since the stock is 90% controlled by institutions, they've got to get all their options in order before this thing starts moving in ernest. I don't know whether or not that's true, but it's as good a theory as any I suppose.
As always, everyone do your own DD, but IMCL is poised to move, and a great weight has just been lifted today, IMO.

BTW, the new TOP10 for the POTW+ are
1. Lye
2. Gator
3. Karel
4. Pete H.
5. Dakat
6. Jiesen
7. Gary
8. Mickey
9. Spike
10. TFred
Doug/IIC dropped out of the TOP10 and Mickey is taking his place.
Lye liked (or didn't mind) Jiesen's idea of a (biweekly) 13 week average, so this will also be the line-up for next week. We'll see what this 'K' factor does. If you want to be a TOP10 player, you just can't get there with one lucky throw! Well perhaps you can get there, but you won't stay there! You need to watch your losses too! :D

Lye, I’ll go with ORCL. This pick will not win this competition but not very exited about my scans as of late. The setup I’m looking at is off a monthly chart. I see a possible ascending triangle that has formed over several years. Price has not cleared the apex and very well could pull back. For now longer term bias looks bullish.
hi, Rob .. let me know if I did something wrong ...
i thought i was in with frgb long for the week ...
Cordially,
GeriHi, Geri. Well, here's the deal: this being primarily a weekly contest, the picks are entered on a weekly basis. In order to make things easier on the scorekeeper, or even the temporary scorekeeper, and also to keep the thread alive, each player must enter his or her pick for the coming week between 4:00 p.m. on Friday and 3:59 p.m. on Monday.
There is one exception to this rule, called the "carved-in-stone" rule: if a player forsees being unable, for whatever reason, to enter a pick during that 72-hour window, then he or she will be allowed to enter a pick in advance; however, in so doing the player understands that this pick is carved in stone, i.e. it cannot be changed under any circumstances. The position will open at Monday's opening price and close at Friday's closing price. Keeping it this way serves as a disincentive to anyone wishing to enter picks in advance merely as a matter of convenience.
Looking back over the earlier posts, I see that your FRGB pick was made on Wednesday. To be honest I did see it at the time, and I intended to post about it and let you know but must've gotten sidetracked. As the temporary scorekeeper, I will exercise my omnipotent and benevolent authority to hereby grant you clemency this once and put you in FRGB at Monday's opening price. (And there was much rejoicing in the realm.)
Hey this is fun-especially since NT finished the week better than it started. Beginners luck for me!
I would like to stay long in NT for next week.
I think Mike Z (CEO) is going to say something on April 6th(I am not watching this real carefully) but I expect NT to really go up or down next week.
Thanks
Bob
Hi Rob,
I don't know if it is time zone thing or what but, I wanted to be in the POTW with NT Long. I posted this after the market closed on Friday but it shows up at 2:23??
If I can play this week-ok-if not I will try next week. NT might not do well-but I will take my chances.

Geri, no problem. Ordinarily I'd have let you know sooner, but I've been extraordinarily busy here lately. That picture to which you refer, that was me with singer/songwriter/producer Linda Perry (she wrote and produced "Get the Party Started" by Pink, "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera, and a host of others), and it was my wife who snapped the photo! :) I still have it and may use it again. Linda is awesome, huge.

I have made a killing on GEHL this week yet I failed to play it in the contest.... Maybe we're all just trying too hard here.lol
Here's something interesting. I normally focus on smaller cap stocks with my research. I entered this CNBC fantacy Portfolio deal last week. They have a minimum equity rule so my searches for the contest are now focusing on larger companies (Example: GEHL, ECOL and PARL do not qualify for this contest). Guess what?.... I'm finding some pretty decent larger cap stocks.jejeje.... stuff I have overlooked for a long time. Just goes to show ya that you can get stuck in a rut if you're not carefull.

If ever I had time to be scorekeeper, I would start a new thread for buys and sells only, and leave this thread for all of the noise -- I would not want to search through all of the noise and blather to get to the meat.
I am sure others have their own opinion -- this is mine and I'm sticking to it.

There would be no noise on my thread -- cause I would penalize them for doing it -- plus this thread would still remain to have all of the fun anyone wanted -- by the way have you ever been a salesperson?
Regarding arguing -- I don't consider this arguing -- merely discussing a point of view -- arguing for me gets emotional and I try to stay away from stuff like that. OK, your turn to reply....

Geri,
Do you want a pick? Here it is;
BUY SUF at $9 per share.
SELL the MAY $10 call at $1.
That nets you $2 profit on an $8 investment, or 25% on your money in six weeks. What's wrong with that? And don't buy BEL. :D

With your scenario, you own x#shares at 9$,selling 10$ calls,if stock went up,you lose on the call, but profit on the stock?
If down you profit on call and keep stock for future write option?
Sorry if Im way off, just trying to understand options writing.Ive been told thats where the money is.

Tom,
It is real easy. What you do is this:
1. Type in "SUF"
2. A window opens and asks you if you want the stock, the option, or the futures of SUF. If you want the stock, click on "stock." If you want the option, click on "option", and another window opens that asks you what strike (choose $10), what month (choose 'May"), what type, i.e. put or call (choose "call"), and then what exchange/routing (choose "smart"). That will place the $10 MAY SUF Call on your streamer.
3. To sell the call, just click on the 'bid' price. Currently that is $1.00.
4. Remember, 1 contract is for 100 shares. You cannot buy contracts for 50 shares, 75 or any other number than 100 share lots. If you want to sell the calls for 1,000 shares, you need to sell 10 contracts. :D
You will instantly receive $100 dollars per contract ($1 per share X 100 shares).
WHAT POSSIBILITIES FOR PROFIT
1. IF SUF stays at $9.99 or less, you keep both the stock and the $100
2. IF SUF is above $10 on MAY 19, 2006, they may (sometimes they forget--really) take the shares from you and pay you $10 per share X 100 shares=$1,000. If you add in the $100 they gave you already, that means you get $1100 for your 100 shares of SUF, for which you paid $900. You profit $2 per share. NICE. That 22% on your investment ($2 divided by $9), or 25% of your risk (risk=$9-$1 call price=$8 out of your pocket).
3. IF SUF is below $10 on MAY 19, you can sell the JUN $10calls, or the JULY or the AUG or the . . . you get the picture :D
In the options game, the call writer wins most always. Now let's consider what happens if SUF goes to $100 per share. You sold it for $10 + $1 call=$11. YOU WIN, but not like you'd win if you had not sold the call.
What if SUF is $9.99 on May 19? YOU WIN. You keep the stock and the $1 per share.
What if SUF is $8.01 on May 19? YOU WIN. You have $9.01 for a $9 stock, whereas those who bought shares at $9 are $1 losers, you are a winner.
:D :D :D
What if SUF is $7 on MAY 19? You are not in as big a hole as the guy who paid $9 but did not sell the calls. He is in a $2 hole; you are in a $1 hole, and can sell the next month's call to help you out of this hole.

I don't have a digital camera...Had some photos but when I re-formatted my hard drive about 14 months ago I forgot to save them.
Anyway...I'm better looking in person...So you'll have to wait for the Mr. M convention...Of course, you could always search Google Images

How did you get her to fall for you in the first place dude?.... Let me guess, She saw you playing your guitar and singin' some sad, sad song.... and you melted her heart....
BTW Rob...My B-Day is this Sunday...If you send me a digital camera for my birthday I will put up lots of pics of myself...No problem...Doug(IIC)

Geri,
Do you want a pick? Here it is;
BUY SUF at $9 per share.
SELL the MAY $10 call at $1.
That nets you $2 profit on an $8 investment, or 25% on your money in six weeks. What's wrong with that? And don't buy BEL. :D
Thanks for the idea, you are always overflowing with ideas ...
I don't think i can do that on scottrade, though .. but i will look into it.

Geri,
SUF:Sure you can. But instead of costing $.75 per contract, it costs $9.25--do you like being ripped off? :D I personally think it stinks. I think this would be a great play for you--25% in about six weeks, if it works out, is an excellent trade.

Yeah, of course we do, Shadow! Welcome back! As you can see, the competition here at the POTW has really stiffened of late, but I'm looking forward to your rejoining the fray and kicking some butt with your picks.
How did you get her to fall for you in the first place dude?.... Let me guess, She saw you playing your guitar and singin' some sad, sad song.... and you melted her heart....It's a long story. Here's the super compact version: It was 1977, and Star Wars was the hot movie. I went to a theater in Sherman Oaks, CA, with some friends who brought along some other friends, and one of those others was the future Mrs. Rob, although i didn't know it at the time. After the movie she said she wanted to see it again. So being somewhat opportunistic, I said, "I'll take you to see it again," which I did. And afterward a buddy of mine and I took the future Mrs. Rob and her sister to a cool restaurant in Universal City called Victoria Station. Maybe some of you Southern Californians are familiar with it. I don't remember if she even knew I was a frustrated musician at the time. :)
To this day, Star Wars is still one of Mrs. Rob's favorite movies. :) (May have something to do with a young Harrison Ford.)

Well here are the totals for the week. Sorry I haven't got time to try to write up any cutesy recap. Also I haven't yet had time to change over from the 52-week format to the 13-week format. So what you see is what you get. I did sort the rows so that week 14 (the new week 1) reads highest to lowest. Congrats to everyone finishing up for the week--you know who you are.

I was never much of a Star Wars Fan myself...In fact I told one of the admins in the office today that "Movies are for people without real lives"...I don't know why, but nobody has ever appreciated that comment...BTW, I don't read fiction either.
But I did see Star Wars in Westwood because one of my buddies brothers back then was an usher and he let us in free.
Victoria Station...I remember that place...I never ate at the one in U City...But I ate at a couple of other locations...it was good. But they went the way of the Velvet Turtle...which I also liked a lot...Doug(IIC)

i'm talkin' fiction here ... and speaking of fiction
doug: movies are moving ...
what i like about them is they tell stories that allow my emotions to wake up and particpate in life, without emotions, imho, we are closer to computers than humans ...
i get that some movies are not inspirational for everybody: I feel that way about lord of the rings .... can't get into that trilogy ...
imo, Star Wars is a classic, regardless of Chewbacka ...

OH! Wise Guy!!
Here is my slop chart on pets. I see a possible bear flag or drifting action happening in price. Although the action is bullish down to last low, I don’t like the drifting here. If buyers don’t jump in and it cracks here I think a return move back to at least last lows is possible. Now having said this if it does pop the red lines and sticks I’ll change my mind on it. Next Bull task I see is a fill of gap. Bear task is to stop the drifting action and return it to last low. I do think the truth on this one will be revealed shortly. But as always we shall see. If you don’t mind me asking Gary what is it about PETS that you like? I’m not in it and best luck…
Oh, I should also mention my timing has been off as of late.

POTW+: 1
In percentages:
MF: 2.6%
POTW: 1.7%
SPY: -0.5%
POTW+: -1.5%
The TOP10 for the POTW is changed biweekly, so the current 10, Lye, Gator, Karel, Pete H., Dakat, Jiessen, Gary, Micky, Spike, and TFred are responsible for the "K" factor this week. Sometimes I wonder why it is called the "K" factor, but perhaps Lye wants to keep something up his sleeve.

I'm going to have to find a better picture of me and my wife to put on my profile. That picture doesn't do her justice, IMO. There's no such thing as a good picture of me. heh heh

There's all different types of Creoles...I think that basically Creole means blend...Actually, she is a Carribean Creole of British descent.

Caribbean Creoles
In the Caribbean (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caribbean) region, the term Creole is used to describe anyone, regardless of race or ethnicity, who was born and raised in the region. It also refers to the syncretism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syncretism) of the various cultures (African (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African), French (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/France), British (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britain) and Spanish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spain) among others) which influenced the area. This is also referred to as the creolization of society "due to its ability to suggest some of the complex sociocultural issues also involved in the process"

Sort of funny...and a rather looooong story which I won't bore everyone with...But in the 90's my Dad got on this kick that he wanted to join the Son's of the American Revolution...Guess you have to prove some direct lineage to somebody who fought in it...My Grandmother had left a lot of ancestry stuff but he hit a dead end in the 1790's...But he ran into this woman...His 7th cousin on my Grand Daddy's side along the way. Now she had info back to the 1680's in England...But they didn't come over till the early 1800's...Anyway, I don't think they let you in if your ancestors fought for the other side.
This woman must be pretty amazing...or bored to death...She has a database of over 25,000 people...But she includes people that I would hardly consider relatives...e.g. she would add everyone from my wife's family...In fact, she'd include everyone from my first wife's family in her database...Doug

. . . my Dad got on this kick that he wanted to join the Son's of the American Revolution...Guess you have to prove some direct lineage to somebody who fought in it...Uh oh ... don't get me started on the genealogy thing, or I'll get so wound up I won't be able to stop. I'm able to qualify for the S.A.R. on any one of at least a half-dozen direct ancestors. In fact, after persoanlly tracing all my lines about as far as is reasonably possible, I discovered that every single one of them was already here in America prior to the Revolution. (I've got about 7,500 people in my database.) The only one I can't prove is a William Miller in east Tennessee about 1800, and his parents may well have been here prior to the War too, but I can't be sure. The more common the name, the more difficult it is to trace the line. One of my ancestors came to Jamestown from London in about 1620 and was one of the survivors of the infamous Indian massacre of 1622 (or I wouldn't be here.) Maybe he wasn't home that day.
I had the genealogy bug really bad a few years back. I had to severely curtail it, because it can very easily eat up enormous amounts of time.

Rob, that's awesome! Did you do a narrative with your family tree? There must be interesting stories there ...No, I never did. I started once to put it all together in a chronological and readable form, but it soon became apparent that in order to do it right it was going to require much more time than I had to put into it. There are some GREAT stories--I mean the stuff of really good movies--in there, and on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean too. I self-published a quarterly newsletter years ago for people who were also interested in my paternal family line. That lasted a few years, and I had to let it go, as I no longer had time to do the research and writing necessary to make it a good read, but some of my work has been quoted as source material in other genealogical books and in periodicals such as the Appalachian Quarterly, which focuses on the genealogy of families in western VA and NC, eastern TN and KY, and WV.
I'll tell you one little known fact of history: most people perceive the bloodiest Indian wars to have taken place in the plains and points west, but in terms of numbers of casualties, there was far more Indian warfare in the Appalachian Mountain range and east. If you ever read some of the first-hand, eyewitness accounts of people who actually lived it, as opposed to getting the Hollywood version, those accounts are pretty horrifying.

Although RADA is a great long pick, I think I'll go with a pick that has a better chance of a large short term price movement.
Rob, I want to go ahead and sell RADA and go short on AAI.
Oil prices are up and AAI has made some nice gains this year, but now this little airline stock is crashing to the ground. I fully expect AAI to continue it's nosedive until it plows into the 200 day MA at full throttle. It's going to be a nasty crash for the longs...but all hope is not lost, because the smart investors who chose to take a short position will earn huge profits...maybe even enough to buy a first class ticket to paradise.

Actually a very good short technically. Broadening top formation forming, and if it breaks 15.30 support with some force and take out the vol gap up day at 14.19 it could very quickly and very easily fall to 11.00. Good luck dude.

Let me guess... Ensenada??
I should have changed my pick to HOM on Tuesday :D I actually did buy it for 6.95, but it switched course far too rapidly for me to realistically put it in the contest.
As far as ARRS, I'm glad I didn't really buy that over 13. Been a hold since about 9.50, but it's starting to hit lower lows, and that kinda bugs me.
I guess I'll go with $$$CASH$$$ next go-round.
Let me guess... Ensenada??
Good guess...there is not a whole lot of places to cruise from L.A. I don't particularly like Ensenada...Although I love buying Chicklets.
We like to cruise...this will be our 16th cruise...Going on another one in September from MIA to Honduras, Belize, Caymans...We try to go when it is cheap...Have a Jr. Suite for about 40% of what we'd have to pay in August. The Sept deal was pretty good but not as...We are only getting balcony cabins because there will be 14 of us and the kids have to go to school the following week...If we could have waited a week we coulda done better...But when it is just me and the Mrs...It doesn't matter...We just go for the deals...There is a huge difference in price depending on the time of year...Doug
lol ya Rob. Hey, I think you messed my score up too - seriously. It's supposed to be positive hehe
Congrats to the winners.Spikefader, you are so right! I apologize for getting my wires crossed. The error has been corrected.

I've ranked the POTW players by compounded return divided by number of weeks played (that's the "special K" factor). I've also included the averages of all the POTW results, which are fairly close, but a bit less relevant to me.
I've left out the bottom few, and those who haven't played more than 5 out of the last 10 weeks or so (sorry Micky). No 5% penalties were included in the calculations. If you see an error in your POTW average or #weeks played, PM me and I'll fix it. This was a rush job, typos may have occurred.

Have a wonderful time on the cruise.
Rob, I'll try to come up with a pick by
Monday. I don't trade swing trade very
often and picks of only a week's duration
are hard for me! My hats off to all of you
who do well. I still need lots of work in the
shorter time frames. That's why I like to watch
all of you in action. There's some great players here.
Good luck to all next week! :)

I say we all take a big swig of Goji Brandy and go pick a fight with the nearest redneck.
With the current rules I don't fault dmk...He took a chance on eps and he called it right...But I'd really like to see a more realistic contest...Let's take David Ryan as an example...He was the Portfolio Manager for IBD or WON or whatever...He won the National Investing Championships 3 years in a row with a 3 yr gain of something like 1300%...There was no prize...But you had to invest a real $500,000 portfolio...So what did he win? Well, besides the 1300% my guess is that he set himself up for a lifetime of job offers...Why didn't he enter for a fourth year? I don't know...But my guess is that he had nothing to gain and a whole lot to lose by that time.
Last I heard he was running his own hedge fund in Santa Monica...Let me go check to see if that's still the case.
I'm back...apparently he is still in business as Ryan Capital Management...although it is easier to find me on the internet than his company...Wonder how he's doing? I heard him speak once...Seemed like a very sharp guy with a good personality and movie star looks...But that was in the 90's...So who knows???

Actually, I didn't even know they were reporting - I picked it b/c of the b/o on 4/06 of a two month base. Never thought that it would go up the way it did. But I mean earnings/news is what usually drives stocks up anyway...I guess I just got lucky there, who knows.

$100 in stock and get beat up 25% = $75.00
$100 in stock and earn 25% = $125.00
$100 POTW bet (get clobbered) = 00.00

Well since you won't keep score we'll need to keep it simple.... Why make it so complex for a hundred measley bucks....One pick at the begining of the month (long or short).... trade is closed out at months end.... Winner with the highest percentage gain takes all.
No OTCBB stocks.... No stocks under $10.... Average Volume must be above 50k shares per day.

This in not a "bet" Shadow. The word "bet" is synonymous with gambling. I never gamble. There is an "entry fee" to play the new game. Certain fee's are tax deductable you know. If you lose your $100 bucks just look at it as a business expense.lol

No OTCBB stocks.... No stocks under $10.... Average Volume must be above 50k shares per day.One of the main reasons I play the POTW is to possibly make myself a bit shrper of a short-term basis trader. I like to look at the longer term picture and invest accordingly, which I will fall back on as my excuse for not doing better in this contest. :)
For that reason I am not willing to join the $100-ante pick of the month, but I'd be willing to keep the score, with say a minimum of two updates per week, if it's agreed that the winner forks over a mere 10% of the pot to me. :)
BTW, as a reminder, I'm leaving shortly and will be unable to post the POTW daily results until later tonight or tomorrow.

That's not what I had in mind...I was thinking something like you get $100,000 paper account...Trade it as you wish for a month with a min. buy of 10 grand...min hold 1 hour...$10 commish per trade...But the more I think about it there would be a lot of scorekeeping...too much in fact.
BTW...I met some guys at this little Expo I went to on 4/1...they run a free weekly contest and starting last week they give $1,000 to each week's winner...I signed up but I have not participated yet...I was looking at their previous contests and it appears that some people are just sitting there posting trades all day...I'll post the site tonight when I get home...Doug(IIC)

One of the main reasons I play the POTW is to possibly make myself a bit shrper of a short-term basis trader.
Great idea Rob!.... I'm game for that too....
Wow! 17 players this week so far are in the 2%+ club! Although a couple of shorts are in the black, generally speaking it's not a good week to be a bear (Lyehopper), even though a few things like oil prices suggest otherwise. I guess the prevailing belief that the Fed is about to finish stepping up the interest rate (http://today.reuters.com/investing/financeArticle.aspx?type=bondsNews&storyID=2006-04-19T200720Z_01_N19265286_RTRIDST_0_ECONOMY-FED-COMMENTS.XML) is taking the upper hand.
But as we all know the week ain't over till it's over. For all we know the market could turn on a dime and tumble hundreds of points in the blink of an eye. But let's just ignore this possibility and open that throttle a little wider, whadaya say?

Doug,
You seem to have a real knack for picking stocks that gap up on news. How often are you able to cash in before the word gets out ? Thanks.

I'm going to Sell IMCL and Buy GOOG.
In real life I'm holding both.

Not very often...but sometimes I try to beat the news...like today I was watching all the AMEX Natural gas stocks in R/T...you could tell supplies were up before it came across the wires

I don't know what that's about ... if the earnings are out I can't find 'em.
GOOG: "Net income for the first quarter rose to $592 million, or $1.95 per diluted share, compared with the year-earlier quarter's $372 million, or $1.29 per diluted share. Revenue rose 79 percent to $2.25 billion -- compared with Wall Street forecasts for 63 percent to 78 percent growth."

Fantastic play on the TZOO, DMK!!! But, if you hadn't cashed out already, you'd be up over 100% now.
Anyway... You are HUGE!121.45% to be exact (at the time I wrote this) ... but how could anyone have possibly known?
Look at IMCL go on rumors of a bid to buy the company! Yeee Haawwww! heh heh
Cha-CHING
What can one say about this week? It surpassed week 1 to become the second-highest average scoring week among the active players!!! Don't you think that's pretty cool? Week 11 is still the highest with 4.2%. Gives us something to shoot for.
Da Mighty Kong (a.k.a. DMK) set the tone with an unbelievable 46.04% gain on TZOO. Now he did cash out a little early, 'cause if he'd have held it all week, it would have scored him 126.51%!!! But like I said earlier, who knew? Besides, anyone (including Da Mighty Kong himself) was free to buy it after he turned it loose, and nobody did. DMK, dude, you are the new weekly record holder!!!!!! HUGE congratulations!!!
Who's that slacker in the #2 spot? Never saw him before this near the head of the class. Oh yeah, it's me! (Actually, it is I, to be gramatically correct.) Feels funny but nice up here in the rarified air of the medalists for a change. That IMCL-GOOG one-two punch paid off this time around. I'd try to pat myself on the back, but I don't want my chiropractor to fuss at me.
Very close behind—too close for comfort—in the no. 3 slot is King Karel, who has been riding that Brightpoint (CELL) pick for some time now. That pick worked out amazingly well this week, bagging our overseas friend a hefty 9.94%!!!! Congratulations on a HUUUGE play, Karel!!!
Well, then there's the Mighty Q ... and the rest of the list of HUGE players this week who all helped to contribute to the 2nd best overall week this year! Way to go, dudes and dudettes!
Now for the good stuff ...

So a few people keep telling me to give you guys my pick of the week. I'm not EXACTLY sure how all this works, because I did not take the time to read all 5000 some posts. Anyway, here it goes:
DWCH - long, limit order at $3.85 or Monday's open (not sure of this rule, so choose whichever applies)
I know I know, the volume..... well, it's not disqualifying, so deal with it. I'm not concerned about the volume as I believe that they will have an easy earnings gain this quarter over last year's, and the volume will pick up.
Thanks
OK...I studied the rules...No BB OTC stocks...So I found a cheap one that is not a Bulletin Board...Put me in QBID long at the open on Monday Rob...IIC

Spike and Ski,
Talk about speculation. Other than it's chart I don't see much going for VLTS. There are about 300 other companies in the same field and I'm sure they're all working on a home run cure for some ailment. If they hit it, they'll be successful, if not, your money will be sitting in a pit when it could be put to better use. Just my opinion.

Trading=speculation I guess hehe.
Just a matter if you need FA to back up a trade or not. And that's often misleading and deceptive. Looking at the earnings news http://phoenix.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=92144&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=816569&highlight= it seems as though something is causing it to rise in price and gain volume base in the face of lower revenue and reducing cash on hand. Not much inspiration in the numbers at first glance. Perhaps some good news that's not out yet?? I dunno, but it's a good chart up to this point, since after the earnings release it found support quickly around 2.40 and has started acting imulsively.....little cup with handle the last 4 months, very very solid vol by price under current levels. Another cheapie with potential technically. I wanna take this one long again this week and I'll just stalk a good entry and not be a knucklehead like last week with it.
Best!

I think rule #3 needs further clarification. I'm pretty sure the intent is to exclude stocks traded on the pinks as well- maybe a rewording is in order, such as: "Only stocks traded on these major exchanges: NYSE, NASDAQ, AMEX may be picked."
Otherwise, QBID is a pretty safe play- considering a stock can't really trade below 0.0001. Of course if it opens on an uptick, you're screwed.

Billyjoe,
Good to see you're back an operational again. All of this stuff is speculation. Only when you narrow down the r/r is the edge in your favor. I wish I had captured the article that came across the Briefing.com newswire last Monday morning. It's what really caught my attention an probably everyone else that morning because it spiked up from $2.99 that morning an I didn't chase it but waited for what I thought was a decent entry. I thought $3.26 was a good bottom for the week and took the plunge. They have a decent drug in the pipeline that will bring in the big bucks from sales and licensing.

Back in the '90's I sorta had a Harem...Much to my wife's dismay...But it really wasn't a physical type thing...I just liked hanging out with great lookin' beer drinkin' chicks and they liked hangin' out with me...Probably because I was really good at Scrabble and they liked learning new words...Or somethin' like that if you know what I mean.
They needed spelling lessons? That what you mean?
The KEY to success w/ women is to be more "SENSITIVE"

LOL......enjoyed your story. Does playing scrabble help a man
become more sensitive? Father's Day is coming up; just wondering. :)

I don't know...Went out to dinner with my wife tonight and I told her about my post...Her response..."You are only sensitive when you wanna be"...Wonder what she meant by that???...I think she hurt my feelings!

My wife loves Scrabble and she's darned good at it too.... I HATE!!!! to play Scrabble.
Douggie-Fresh?.... are you sure you aren't?.... how can I put this?.....hmmmmmm, don't wanna be insensitive...... uhhhhhhh?.....
Are you..............
QUEER!!!!??????
jejeje......errrrrrr......JEEE.hic....EEEEE....... JK!!!! there "DEF" aka Scrabble-Daddy.
Man, I love playing Scrabble! And no, it doesn't make me more sensitive in the least, in fact maybe just the opposite. My wife won't play with me because I refuse to let her "bend" (break, really) the rules. Once on a camping trip with another couple we played Scrabble, and the other guy's wife wanted to look up a word before she played it. I said no way. She tried to persuade me for about five minutes, and I wouldn't budge. Then she got mad at me and quit. lol That still cracks me up when I think about it. It's not like I was way ahead or anything. In fact I was losing because I had a tray full of awful letters that were impossible to play and get more than 5 or 6 points at a time.

Oh!!!! Sure Websman, I'd be happy to....
According to the MPWT.... and the other 28 technical and fundamental indicators that make up the VTP.... CLEC is due a steep selloff this week. VTP short target for CLEC this week is $3.38 or about a 16% retracement from the current price. Your score this week in the POTW (should you hold this pick) will be about -12%....
Glad I could be of service.

Hmm, not sure if I want to keep CLEC. I've been holding ZOLT for quite awhile (since I picked it for POTW in feb) and am up almost 100% on it and it could be looking for more, up strong lately on volume. UQM also on my radar, just finished a little pullback.

Well thanks for bringing it to my attention anyway. I almost bailed today at $3.90 range but decided to keep a close eye on it and give it some room to breathe. Geez, I could use a nice one an a half or a double. It's been awhile. I'm going to place a stop around $3.70/3.75 in the morning and see what it does.
