Wow!
I don't know what to say. I'm speachless...but I'll try to say a few words. First off I would like to think the little people who made this thread possible. Thankyou for all your support and for providing my portfolio with lots of money this year. I would also like to think my management team... My producer... uhhh ... Whathisname... My... Agent... Whoever... I would also like to thank My Mom and Dad... Mr Market... Karel... Spikefader... Stenz... Newborn... Scifos... Jiensen... MEA... IIC... Kingofthehill... Runner... Lake... Poorman's... The Pensacola Ice Pilots... Burt Reynolds... Russian President Putin... Benjamin Franklin... The Raliens... The Amish... Jeb Bush... Willie Nelson... My bashers and everybody else...Thankyou all!...sniff...sniff...I am touched...sniff...sniff...thankyou so very much.
Ok, Now that I have recognized the insignificant people, Let's get on with business.
I am still out of SIRI. I thought about getting back in today, but it's just too risky and I wan't to protect my huge profits. We will see if SIRI drops tomorrow. I'm still getting over my emotional attachment to SIRI. It was very good to me.
Here are a few of the stocks on my watch list. I have plenty of cash sitting on the side... BBW, JRJC, KONG, DPZ, LOJN, DG. I have many more, but nothing is tempting me right now.
Oh yea. I also like AAI. This is an airline stock, but I think it has potential.
I'm open for any suggestions for new canidates

have you ever played "darts" with stock picking? I did that today and came up with two interesting ones. CIEN and ROXI. Don't know if I want to buy them, but I'll watch them for a while. I found CLRK like this. I wish i would have bought it.
Here's my updated watch list. SIRI (of course) , AAI, LOJN, PRFT (thanks Stenz), KKD (who knows?), DPZ (pizza, an American tradition), KONG, JRJC, BBW, DWA, SYK.

Webs,
Wow! You've got your own little world here. Incredible status and fame have come quickly to you. Investing in SIRI did more for you than Howard Stern did for SIRI. Congratulations! Has President Bush called you yet? If not, I would expect he'll be calling to congratulate you in the next day or so. I suppose some Hollywood producers have been calling lately, wanting to do a made for TV movie about your incredible life. Maybe you can get IIC to play you in the movie. After all, he looks like Mel Gibson. Awesome, isn't it?
Well, now that you are the man, can you start spinning your Web? Got a few ideas for us "insignificant people" to follow up on? Hey, how about something original, like shorting ELN?
[Webs, just in case you can't tell, this is all in fun. I really enjoy your posts].

Hey webs awesome job with SIRI. Nice pile of cash you pulled in on this one. What a way to close out the year, but I know you got your sites lock and loaded on another target ready to pull the trigger.
I blew my perfect short entry @ 9.40. I got scarred with the crazy thing. When all this was going on my tape about blew out off my screen. My big take was .37 cents I think.
Looks like it ran sideways all day and maybe something is brewing with this wild thing again. You would not believe this but I picked up some WMT today. I’m going to try to play the range on it. I plan to sell in the mid to upper 50’s. What did he just say Wal-Mart?

111% profit is Huuuuuuge! Now you can buy some OFG. lol.
I sold approx. 40% of my SIRI for a gain of 164% and I get to hang onto the
other 60% for free. Plus I made some cash. GO SIRI! up, up, and away!! lol.
Now I think Intel looks good & cheap. Any comments?

Webs, Good luck with your new venture. You're out of the blocks with an impressive start. As you know I've been studying DWA and my opinion has changed. I was fortunate to get out with about 1.35 gain per share. Here are my reasons pro and con:
THE GOOD
1. Speilberg and the boys have lots of creativity and brains.
2. In the long run they'll probably be successful
3. Shreck is a great product and their selling record numbers of DVD's
4. Their earnings seem to be in line with estimates, no hyping or wild exaggerations
THE BAD
1. The stock is volatile two or three bad days in a row would really hurt and nothing in the near future seems to justify two or three good days in a row
2. Do you want to hold for a year or two waiting for the next blockbuster?
3. There doesn't seem to be a ready supply of product for continuous sales
4. Have had a few flops in the past two years releases
5. They are relying too much on Shreck 2,3,4, etc.
6. Insiders will be able to sell shares legally in a couple months they got them for free or $28 and the lure of a quick million or 2 may just be too tempting
7. Announced delay of the next Shreck
8. Bear Sterns has them rated underperform
I hope you'll take this into consideration before adding it to As The Web's World Turns portfolio.

Here's one I think may have bottomed out.
GES - Looks like it closed at $12.18. This was the first stock I ever bought. I bought at $14.10 and sold at $14.68 1/2. Not much of a gain, but I was determined not to lose on my first trade.
I'll be looking at this one on Monday.
I thought hard about SIRI, but I didn't do it. They're supposed to be listed on the QQQQ, but I don't think it will matter. This dog is going down...I hope. I'll buy after it nosedives again.
KKD - Donut anyone? Will KKD make a comeback. Will the lowcarb freaks flake out and come back in force to demand their donuts? Will Mcdonalds buy out KKD and have a McDonut on every corner? KKD in China? India? Alabama? I'll keep watching.
WIN - I keep watching this one for a comeback. Every true redneck shops Winn-Dixie. How could you not support a store with the word "Dixie" in it?
KONG and JRJC - I love China. I've been to Shanghai and been packed like a sardine in the subway. I loved the stench that my run down hotel room emitted. It was great! Will these stocks rule like China does?
The only stock I own right now is DHB, and it finally made a gain today. Up $1.03. I messed up and bought at $19.75. What a dumb thing to do Webs! I'm hanging on though, because I'm almost 100% sure it'll go over my buy price soon.
OFG dropped today??? Wassup??? Is now a good time to buy? What do you say Spike or Runner?
It's Friday and I've got a lot of things to do this weekend, so I gotta go. Y'all have a great weekend and I hope you made a pile of cash!

Here's my possible buy list for Monday so far - NFLX, GES, DPZ, OFG, SIRI, XMSR, LOJN, NUTR
More may added by tomorrow.
Something is happening with FONR. I've kept an eye on them for a while. They produce stand up MRI units. could end up being a good one.

Webs, I have to warn you about getting into a dart throwing contest with RL. Did you ever see the movie "The Hustler" with Jackie Gleason and Paul Newman? RL's dart hit TASR in late February which won him the first annual March Madness stock picking tournament. I think it was about Oct. 1st of this year he hit JOBS which has gone up about 25 points since . I'm monitoring his picks so watch out when he pops in and says "Hey fellas, How about a freindly game of darts?" I have a secret weapon since he in a lapse of judgement sent me one of his dull darts which honed to surgical sharpness has served me well these last 60 days or so.

First you say you will hold until $200/sh., then you sell all of your shares on the way down (my est. is @$7-7.05/sh.) and now you want to buy it back on the way up??? Are you on drugs?? LOL.

Well, it's Monday morning and I'm ready to rock. I decided to bang into work today, so I can watch the markets and learn. Who knows, I may even make some money in the process.
I have a lot of picks, but I may just get on the SIRI bandwagon again. I've had more fun with this stock trading thing than I ever have at any casino I've been in.
Here's a thought for the day - Never trade with any money that you can't afford to lose.
I say this, because I read an article that talked about people who have gotten a home equity loan to play the market. I don't know about you, but I spent quite a few years getting my home paid off and I'm not about to put it on the line. If I lost every penny off my trading account today, I'd still have a home and I'd still have a good job with retirement. I consider my stocks money as a bonus to retirement. Regardless, I'll be retired at age 53, with no problems.

I am nearing the end of my first year of trading and I have far exceeded my goals. I actually thought I would be lucky if I broke even, but I've done quite well!
Over the year, I have tried many different trading styles and have had varying results. I have learned a lot and have a lot more learning to do.
Here is a list of what I have tried and what I have learned-
1. I ordered a subscription to IBD, thinking it would help...it didn't. I'll just buy an occasional issue from the newstand. My conclusion-IBD sucks
2. I tried Daytrading and found that it isn't for me.
3. Chart analysis is a great tool, if I will learn to follow it.
4. Mr Markets method is superior to IBD. Mr Market is right when he says earnings rule.
5. I've had some luck swing trading, but will limit these type of trades.
6. I had my hugest success on SIRI. The reason for this, is that I saw the potential early and jumped in before the crowd noticed. I still say that satellite radio will be huge.
7. I also had a lot of success with DHB. I saw the demand plus it had great fundamentals.
8. I also found that I tend to jump in and out of trades too often.
9. I jumped ship too early on a lot of trades. MCRI is a prime example.
10. Mr Market has the best trading site on the internet. I hope Mr Market decides to continue it for a long time to come.
I am going to hold my SIRI positon as I believe Sirius will blow out their one million subscriber projection which will send it up. If it helps any, I have ordered a Sirius receiver for myself...lol SIRI may go down for a few days, but I have a lot of room to play with.
Today was my last buy of the year. I'm holding off until January before I make any more trades, but I'll still be here to watch and learn!

Webs- your right as time tells all. In fact SIRI may very well run up 10,000%. That’s what makes it fun. No one can assure anything in the market except that people win and lose money everyday. I believe giving advise to others is also a touchy thing. We can all look at a chart and see something different. What works for one does not mean it works for another. That’s why one needs to develop a plan that works for them. I’ve been in your shoes before. It was raining so I got to stay by the screen all day. I was like “there must be something to buy”. Well the market was not doing very well and I new it, but I was searching for somewhere to place my money. My plan for that day was the just buy something. Needless to say it turned out to be a bad choice.
Do we sometimes look for the perfect entry point and not even think about an exit plan? I know I’ve done it before. Where is the money made on the entry or exit? I was famous for buying high and selling low. After awhile of licking my wounds I decided to try something new. I would buy into weakness and sell into strength. Bingo a light bulb went off. I was buying while others were selling. I was selling while others where buying. Now several of those buys turned out to not work, but this time I had a plan and I would get out at the drop of a hat. Yea I would take my 2-5% loses and move on. In fact I lost more trades then I won. I started to see how my small loses compared to my few winners was adding up. I was like man I’ve been in 10 trades and 7 have gone against me but I’m still overall up. I started to think more short term. In fact if a stock had ran up for 3 days straight I would not even consider it. If it gapped up 2 days in a row I’d tighten my stop real tight or sell ½ the position. I came across stockcharts.com and started playing with channels. I noticed stocks hitting this lower channel thingy and would often times recover the next few days. Now I find Mr. Markets website and I see from spikefader that what I’ve been playing with really exists. Now I need to try to understand the waves both major and minor. I started using this fib grid thing and started to see how sometimes stocks would bounce like a ball off the fib-line. One of my biggest challenges was admitting when I was wrong and trying to get another nickel out of the position and end up losing a bunch of hard earned cash.
I bet nobody on this forum can relate to some of my blunders, but that’s life ya win some you lose some. Maybe it is how we lose that really prepares us for our wins. I don’t know, but as said before everyday money is being made and lost in this crazy thing called the market.
Webs- your doing fine and may your dreams come. It does only take a few winners to make a good year. If you jumped out of a position too soon, know biggie. I still jump out to soon, but like you herd before you won’t never go broke taking a profit.

Go Webs!! You're doing well and it's funny watching your antics.
It's a good thing that you can write a list of things you've learned and reflect on them. It's OK to make mistakes. Just learn from them and move on. I am certain you will develop your own style and it will be successful. To quote Runner: 'Bingo, a light bulb went off'. That's what will happen to you if you give it time. It's what happened to me......the light bulb went off that I should buy at support - when others are selling, and sell at resistance when others are buying. Whether channels or FIBs or volume by price or whatever, as long as you aim to follow BASSAR, you will give yourself an EDGE. And if you don't know what your edge is right now, you don't have one! :D And without an edge, you're in trouble, since you're going up against a world of smart traders that may have a great edge, and have been trading that same successful edge for years!
If I may suggest something that may help you: In this journal, why not papertrade a few setups (assuming you spot good trades), and post your entries and precise plan....be accountable. You may find yourself acting less on emotion and more on logic!
Good trading pal!

While on my way to work, at 4:30 in the morning, I was listening to Jim Cramers radio show. I like Cramer. He's very entertaining, and besides, what else is on at 4:30 in the morning? I like the way the veins pop out of his forehead when he gets excited. Then he starts spitting and yelling in that obnoxious, sqeaky voice of his. It's thrilling! I also like to watch him on Kudlow and Cramer. Kudlow is like the straight man in a comedy act.
I wish I could get as excited as Cramer. I've been told that I have a dry personality. What is that suppose to mean??? Dry... could mean a lot of things. Maybe they're just jealous, because I'm so good looking and have a lot more money than they do....
Anyways, back to my story. I was listening to Jim Cramer when he said that he is big on Lucent (LU). Lucent? Did I hear that right? Is Cramer in his right mind? I thought to my self, "What would Mr Market think of Lucent?".
This is the second time I've heard him promote LU, yet it keeps tanking. Does Cramer know something that we don't know or is he getting paid to pump a stock? Any opinions on Jim Cramer and his madness?
Is Cramer an entertainer or a true stock guru?

I came to the same conclusion myself, IBD has a lot of good info but the price is way too high for what I got out of it. I also buy it on the newsstand every so often. I lost more money than I made on trying to time the breakouts. I am convinced that market makers take advantage of the 7-8% stoploss rule. I seems I made money when I jumped in early way before the "pivot point".
I am a fellow SIRI long and I will remain so until I get convinced that Sat-radio wont work.

Webs...
I actually listen to his show quite often as well and a couple people I know get his Street Alert mail. They forward them to me now and then. I picked up some LU about a week or two before Cramer was getting red in the face with excitement. I am up on it, but it keeps getting hammered. I am long the stock, but both NT and LU keep getting hammered.......... The sector seems to be taking a beating. I was going to dump LU last week at a higher price but decided to hold until after the first for tax purposes........
I think LU can go up another .5 but that could be a long, long time.........
Honestly I would stay away. ha

Webs,
I now view Cramer as "for entertainment purposes only". Many years ago he got me into an awesome investment VGHCX vanguard health care fund. It weathered the big drop in the market and made me mucho $$$. So maybe I owed him one. Then I bought NT and CHTR last year on his advice and both tanked big time so I'm back to picking my own again.

Has anyone here ever sold anything on Ebay?
I'm thinking of setting up an account. I have a Beatles record that I bought at a yard sale for a dime, years back and I just saw the same exact album sell for $860.
Here's the link:

I think it's time for me to let my record go. Who wants to bid on it?

Cmpletely agree! I know a couple people that went with Cramer on those..... NT, CHTR, JDSU, Etc. and they have been pretty burned.... I happen to be holding LU and NT and Hate it! I am almost back to even on NT and will sell as soon as I am..... LU I will hold for a while as I see them gaining grpund in 05.
But Cramers picks get copied to me now from a buddy, and they are purely entertainment.

I'm still holding SIRI and was getting a little worried yesterday, but today perked me up when it closed .50 up. My portfolio is starting to look good again! I think SIRI is set to run for the rest of the month. More profits are on the way. SIRI is my only stock I hold right now, as I promised my self that I would hold off on buying anymore stocks until Jan.
I am exploring all options for the next year. One thing I found this past year, is that I seem to be pretty good at finding stocks that are about to make a good run. I saw TZOO, TASR, SIRI and MSO, before they ran and felt sure, at the time, they were set up for a run. Of course I did get SIRI and made a killing. I'll be keeping my eye out for new canidates. Of course, I won't risk a large portion of my money on these type stocks, but a small position would never hurt, as long as I know when to sell.
Two stocks that I see as potential runners, for next year is KKD and WIN. These two have been beaten down for good reason, but I believe we may see a comeback on at least one of them. KKD seems like the best possibility out of the two. The low carb fad is dying down and Americans will begin eating donuts again. I'll keep a close eye on KKD. I'll just have to make sure it doesn't get away from me like MSO did.
DHB is another one that looks like it's starting to get beat back down. Folks, I'm telling you, you need to watch this one. DHB has already received numerous contracts for bullet proof vests and more are on the way. I'm not wild about the CEO, but the business is there. Unfortunately, with the situation in Iraq, the demand for bullet proof vest's will increase and DHB has the best product.

I like your take on KKD, I am going to put it on my watch list. The diet thing is too hard for most people. I see more and more KKD donuts popping up around my workplace.
As for diets go, I exercise almost everyday and utilize my no fat all-beer diet to keep trim.

Well folks, I just received my renewal notice from IBD. After thinking it over, I have decided to spend my, hard earned money elsewhere. IBD has been helpful, but I'm not getting anything out of it anymore. To commemerate my year with IBD, I posted a farewell message on the IBD board. It reads like this...
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just want to thank IBD for my subscription, which is about to end. Your paper has been very useful! I have even used it to line my birds cage. I have also used it to stuff boxes for shipping things. Oh yea, I have sent many issues to the local landfill to contribute to the recycling effort.
I'm sure canslim is a great way to trade, but I have created my own trading methods, in the past year, which have turned out to be much more successful. I must now reject the inferior canslim methodology.
I used canslim when I first started investing, with some success. Although I did make a profit, I was not happy with the performance of my portfolio. Then I was introduced to www.mrmarketishuge.com . Since finding this FREE sight, I have learned a lot from many experienced investors, who reside there. Because of this FREE site, my portfoilo has become huge! I will acheive my goal of financial independence!
I wonder if this post will be deleted or if I will fianlly be banned from the IBD boards? Hmmm....
Do you want to make money? Learn to think for yourself and you will succeed!
Sincerely, a much wealthier

Webs, I to have departed the IBD newspaper… Unlike you who used the paper for your birdcage I use them for my Chihuahuas litter box…. Ha imagine my dogs doing their business on “the Big Picture”. Yea I’ve trained my little buddies to use a cat litter box and they hit it 100%. I’m not knocking IBD and or canslime, but it just was not for me. I’ve read O’Neil’s book and thought I was going to rule the market, yea right…. One 7% kick out after another. I started to wonder as my money began to erode and slip farther down hill. I was like man does this work? I know market conditions did not favor canslim, but I read the “Big Picture” before my dogs read it and the words read something like this. “Rally under pressure” I was like come on be real. Needless to say I thought I better try to figure out what the market is doing by myself. I still don’t get it right all the time, but I know a “D-day when I see it.
I’m sure if one was to look into my purchases you’d find they were not 100% canslim and after a few months I could not find any that where 100% Canslime, so I started to wonder if I was messed up. I’d buy a nice cup with candle and even have a nice fat limit order in place to buy the Break out. I’d come home from work and it was like “I’m the man”, I was exited because my stock order got filled and I was up a few points. Looking over the chart I’d see the volume was strong. I knew I just found a winner, but the next day I’d come home and want to kick my dogs. “What happened”, down 3 points. Needless to say the next day I’d be kicked out of my position with my little 7% drop.
I then went into info overload. Ya know when your brain is racing so fast you’re about blow a gasket. I said “Man this Sucks”. I then keep doing what I was doing but if I was up a few points I’d sell that sucker faster then you could click your mouse. I figured it was best to grab it while I had it. This worked out well until I got this thing called a T-3 Warning. I was like “what the heck is this”. I read the little message scottrade send me and even called then on the live line to chat about it. They set me straight and I was like ooppps.
But wait it gets better. I started to really look things over and I just knew short term trading was what I could do. I started looking what happened to stocks before they broke out. I noticed a similar patter called “inside days”, and I played with the 20-40-50-200 dma. I saw how these moving averages acted like magnets. I learned to not get out with a 7% lose, but 2-3%. I learned enough to be dangerous about support and resistance. I learned that it is ok too take a small lose and try to preserve my capital. I learned to keep my pride to the side, and admit to myself when I had made a mistake.
Anyway as we move into the future one thing is for sure. Some will win and some will lose, but the race is not a sprint, but a marathon. I’d get a good run going and get a little cocky and BAM “slap down to reality”.
Anyway best for all on this forum

Newborn? Are you there?
Webs...
Webs,
Are you ready for the Truth? Sit down please . . . .
In the Bible, there is no specific date given for Christ's birth. We are not commanded to celebrate it. (Therefore, it is a man-made holiday). Although it is the most celebrated holiday in the "Christian world," it is not a God-given holiday. There are 52 holidays per year that we are commanded to celebrate, the Lord's Day, the first day of the week.
Only 4 chapters of the Bible's 1189 chapters cover the birth of Christ. So it is not a big issue to God. (Consider the fact that in the Gospel of John alone, chapters 13-21 cover the last week of his life). Furthermore, God has commanded us to observe communion "to proclaim the Lord's death until He comes [again]" (1 Corinthians 11:26). In other words, the most important thing to remember is His death. God has given us the ordinance of communion to help us remember the important fact: that Christ died as an atonement for our sins. Atonement means that Christ paid a reparation to God to appease His wrath for our sins. God is angry with sinners and will damn them to Hell. Christ died to fully pay the penalty of our sins, so that God is no longer angry with the sinner. However, the sinner must accept the sacrifice of Christ by faith alone (Romans 3:20-28) so that his sins are completely forgiven. When a person calls upon Jesus to save him from his sins, and trusts the finished work of Christ on the cross alone for salvation from Hell to Heaven, his sins are once and for all forgiven, he immediately has eternal life, and his is a true Christian. This is the most important decision any person can ever make because it changes his eternal destiny from Hell to Heaven.
Christmas, therefore, as it is most often celebrated in the U.S.A., is a distraction from the message that Christ came to pay for our sins. Christmas is simply the supposed date (no one knows for sure) that Christ was born into the world. But the most important thing was His death to pay for our sins, and we know when He died, and when He rose again.
God bless Webs and all on this forum!

I see that DHB got knocked back down today. I think DHB will be up and down, until it's listed on the Nasdaq. I believe a Nasdaq listing will come sometime next year. I owned DHB 5 times this past year, but I don't think I would buy it now. Maybe later.
I still like BBW, and will be keeping an eye on it.
Jim Cramer loves LU. He pumps it every morning on his radio show. Why LU??? Is LU really that great?
SIRI is starting to get on my nerves. I used to love it, but after I make a little more money on it, I think I'll kick it out the door just as I would a little puppy that just tinkled on my best carpet.
Speaking on tinkling on carpets, what about Martha Stewart? MSO??? Why didn't I buy it when I said I would. Martha used to make me puke until she went to prison and aquired her new, bad girl image. Now I think she's hot! I can only hope that her stock gets bashed by CNBC or the Wall Street Journal, so I can buy it at a reasonable price. I think MSO could be the next TZOO. Just think...MSO at $100 bucks. I think it may happen. Martha will be bigger than the Pope! Just wait and see.

My goal for 2005 is to settle for no less than a 100% gain on my portfolio. I retire in 13 1/2 years and would like a few million dollars to go along with my pension.
I know of too many people who think they will be able to depend on a pension and social security. I suppose you can if you don't mind living like a miser and spending your senior years in front of a TV. I would rather work than do that.
I have a 25% gain this year so I need to improve my performance by 75% next year to meet my goal. My goal for this year was to just break even so I'm already ahead!
I think 2005 will provide us with plenty of opportunities for profit.

IIC, did you say that Webs is a French Vulcan? What kind of a concoction is that? And I was thinking of inviting Webs up to my place next time he makes it to Monroe, WI. My kids have never seen a real live vulcan.
IIC/Webs: what are your investment goals for 2005? My goal is to double the size of my portfolio. I think/hope that that is a reasonable goal, provided I work hard enough. I plan to work harder at investing and studying, and would ask IIC what if he would like to direct my study. What should I read? What sites might you recommend? Anything you want to dump on my plate, I am ready to look into doing.
Webs, you are invited to my place next time you make it up our way [ :-)]
God bless you both, and have a great 2005!
A book I always recommend is "How Charts Can Help You In The Stock Market" by William L. Jiler. It is an easy read but I really like it as a technical primer. I have the original 1962 edition...but later editions are available.
As far as sites...I list some good sites in my Site Watch Section at Mr B. Soon I will start archiving them on separate pages for easy reference.
My goal for 2005...The usual 200%...I have never reached it but what the heck...maybe one day???
I think the key though is to never let mistakes get under your skin...learn from them and try not to repeat them...but never worry about them.
Another suggestion...make changes slowly...don't try to copy what others do unless you fully understand what they are doing. I only know one person, and I know a lot of great traders, many better than I, who I would buy on what they say w/o first looking at a chart. That's because she is the only one that I know who I REALLY know how she thinks.

I've found that hanging with the trend until it's broken is working better for me.
I still have a lot to learn, but I'm getting better at this trading thing. I'm fully expecting a 100% or better gain for 2005. If we all keep working together like we've been doing, we may all see our money double this year!
If I could double my porfolio for the next 13 years, I'll retire in style...

VDSI is very tempting, but I know better than to chase it.
After the action today, I'm glad I'm in cash. I have lots of $$$ that I would love to spend, but I think I'll sit back and be patient. I feel like a kid in a candy store...but my mama won't let me buy any candy...BWAAHAHAAA!!
I still like KKD, but I need it to drop back a little.
WIN seems to be starting to trend up...looks like my fellow rednecks are shopping there again.
DPZ could be a buy this week, depending on tomorrows action.
Jim Cramer still loves LU...I still haven't figured this one out. What's so great about Lucent? Could Cramer be onto something? I've been tempted to buy it, but Cramer seems more like a used car salesman than a stock picker to me. He's fun to watch, but I don't trust him.
I've got some more remodeling work to do...gotta go.

Or do you only follow his picks when they are up? That's one of the stupidest remarks I've heard come out of anyone's mouth since I've been part of this forum.

LOL...I'm not about to type attacks back to anybody, just a little sarcasm. Life is too short to get upset so easy. That's part of what makes Mr Markets board so great. It all about attitude. This board attracts positive people and positive people are usually more successful. I don't judge success by money though. Success is about being happy and leading a good quality of life. Money just helps enhance the quality part.
I would welcome Skiracer here anytime. I don't think he's a bad guy. It could be that he was just having a bad day. Everybody has an off day occasionally. I think Skiracer is a great trader and I enjoy learning from him.

They're dropped if a big price drop occurs or a steady week after week drop. About 4 weeks ago I rechecked fundamentals and charts resulting in these 20. Putting an imaginary 8% stop loss at that time only SYMM would have been sold. Hope you can find something good here.

LU is a Jim Cramer recommend. That means he's down on the stock from where he bought it, and is pleading with the public to buy the stock so he can get out.
One thing about LU: people trade the stock. What is the daily volume, 50 million shares or so? Another SIRI. At least it is liquid.

LSCP: Was a cup and handle pick I had that jumped up $3.30 on Monday, another $2.65+ on Tuesday, and has since plummetted all the way back to $30 yesterday and today. There is a way to play these failed breakouts: it is called the Turtle strategy. Wait 20 days past the breakout day, and then trade in the same direction as the stock is moving. This system takes into account that most breakouts are failed breakouts.

Today I bought AAI. Airtran is a discount airline company who's stock has been beat down since December. Realizing that this is a risky play, I took a small position and am setting my stop at 5%.
My buy price is $9.59 and my 5% loss point is $9.11. If all goes right I will sell AAI at $11.02.
Whether I win or lose, I have a plan in place and will be happy knowing that I followed that plan. With a 5% stop, I will not take a significant loss. $11.02 gives me a 15% gain and will be a fair profit.

The fishing was trip was not real productive. I caught a couple of undersized Grouper and some Red Snapper, which are out of season. But, like I've always heard,"A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work".
Let's see if the market does better.

Webs,
Lousy day fishin' in Alabama? Well, we've got a foot of snow sandwiched between two days of freezing rain on both sides. I had two church people fall in the freezing rain this week: one fell on her porch and broke her ankle; the other fell off his tractor and broke his hip. I say, "A bad day fishin' is better than a good day shoveling snow."
Now to business. I noticed on AAI's chart that we now have a quadrupal bottom, and it is right at support! Might be a good time to jump on it. The mood in the market will set the mood in AAI (IMO). I think it ought to make a decent daytrade. Trouble with AAI is that it is an airline stock. Warren Buffet (if he knows anything) says that the first dollar has yet to be made in the airline industry.
Best to you, Webs!

Yes AAI was a risky play but it was a good trade as I got out with a minimal loss. Losing is all part of the game and it's all about knowing how to lose. I am still on my way to a 100% or better gain this year!
I have a few canidates that I'm watching to help me reach my goals. These candates are EP, DHB, SIRI, NVT, VDSI, MFLX, BBW and CMN.
At this time, I am leaning towards CMN. CMN is a Mr Market pick and as we all know, Mr Market picks usually become winners. I may buy CMN in the next day or two. As for the rest of my picks, I'll be checking the charts for a proper channel entry point.

It also lines up really well for a 1-5 move with an ABC correction (although purist EWers would say 4 can't penetrate the top of 1). In any case, I'm going to trade it and target 15% or 38.10. I hope you two get to go for the "full ride" with CMN! By full ride, I am referring to riding the bull for the full eight seconds. I hope this thing carries you right to your 15% and beyond! In fact, if it would just walk up to Mr. Market's target while its on its way up, you folks could grab 30% instead of 15!

I held off on my CMN trade and it turned out to be a good move. Down another .35.

A little more info on LU. Earnings is in the morning. Although I realize that buying before earnings can be quite risky, I believe earnings are going to exceed expectations. In my opinion, LU has been beat down and is oversold at this point.
Being this is a highly speculative trade, I took out a small position, in case it goes against me. Win or lose, my plan is in place.

Wow...this market just keeps going down. It's kind of cool to be sitting in cash and watching the bargains take shape. I'll be looking for stocks that are being beat down and for new leaders forming.
One stock that is getting knocked down is DHB. I would like to see DHB get down to the $13 dollar range before I start to consider it a buy again. It is possible though, that it could bounce back up from here. We will soon see.
TZOO....What can I say but...ouch. I'm glad I'm not long on that one. I think TZOO will continue to head down.
I like BBW, but I won't touch it at these levels. It also on the IBD top 100, which makes it even more dangerous.
One of my favorite OTC stocks is RSSYF.OB. I like the product and the potential of it. This will be one to watch this year, just not a buy yet.
SIRI might look good today, but I won't touch it until after earnings. I'm glad to have made a killing on it last year, but I would use caution on it for now. I think it will flounder around until Sept or Oct, and then start another big runup. The Howard Stern deal will be getting ready to kick and the Christmas sales will be getting ready to warm up. I will buy SIRI this Summer when interest is low.
I consider the market selloff as an opportunity. I am fully expecting a gain of no less than 100% for 2005.

I'm still in cash. One up day does not make for a bull market.
It's funny watching my fellow co-workers talk about the market and their mutual funds. They get excited about their profits on an up day and want to pull it all out on the down day claiming the market is doomed. What's funny is that I'm listening to what they say, knowing full good and well that they have no clue what they're talking about. What's sad is that a lot of them have taken an option, that the state of Florida began offering a few years ago, where they could take their retirement out and put it in the market. They have given up a guaranteed retirement! Just a month ago, they were bragging about how much money they were making but lately they've been real quiet.
A few of them have asked me for my advice and I have asked them why they would give up something that is guaranteed and put it all on the line? It's crazy! I've told them over and over that they can invest 10% of their income while keeping the retirement safe. I've always heard that you should pay yourself first, before you pay anybody else. This plan has worked great for me.
It just so happens that our Governor is Jeb Bush...hmmm, Jeb changes retirement and George Bush changes Social Security. What's up with these Bush boys? Could they be saving the government money at the expense of the unkowing people? I believe so. Don't get me wrong, I have dealt with Jeb Bush, personally, and I consider him to be a fine individual who would do anything to help you, but I don't agree with him giving people false hope. I believe George Bush is also setting the masses up for dissapointment.
Social security privitization will be great for me, but will be a disaster for many others.

I count you as a friend, but I want to ask you: Do you hate me yet? You see, I am going to tell you the truth, and that is that EP was a Jim Cramer recommend last year (March 2004) and I lost a chunk of change on it when the CEO admitted that he overstated reserves by 40%. Cramer was pumping the stock like LU and CHTR, and I bought it, and BOOM!! The bomb blew a big hole in my pocketbook.
Did you know you could buy a share of VKR.UN on the TSX, or if you have Ameritrade, Viking Energy Trust on the pink sheets on the American side, for $5.50 per share? It pays a 15% dividend, and the company is growing, and its share could be worth $10 US in the next 12-18 months. If the unit price doesn't move anywhere, you've still pulled a Mr. Market with the 15% return.

Actually, I'm not really interested in any stocks right now. I just don't see any good opportunities at this time.
I'm waiting paitently for my next big opportunity like SIRI. I bought SIRI before everyone noticed it or took it serious and ended up doubling my investment. The next big money maker is out there just waiting for me to discover it. I still like DHB and think it stands an excellent chance of going back up. I don't think SIRI will do anything until the end of the year.
I do like RSSYF.ob and will continue watching it. This is a company that makes utility poles from a composite material, rather than wood or fiberglass. The company is very small but has a product with enormous potential.

I thought of you and your Beatles album when I saw the press release:
New York AP Wed Jan 26th Ringo Starr and famed comic book character creator and animator Stan Lee announce partnership in creation of animated reluctant Super Hero based on the persona of Starr. "Ringo has super powers that he has yet to reveal that potentially could save the earth" said Lee, creator of Spider Man and other legendary super heros. An animated film is in the works for release within 2 years.
This seems like a nutty idea, but Stan Lee and Ringo Starr both have very successful track records. Ringo has a distinct voice and appearance that is well suited to comic exaggeration. I think it might just work.

Good thought. It could very well be a rigged bid. It's very easy to use phantom bidders to run an auction up.

I have tickets to the see the Ice Pilots play tonight. There's nothing like watching a bunch of young Canadians, beat the crap out of each other on the ice! ahhh...I can't wait.
BBW didn't bounce back, so I'll keep watching it tank and wait for the right buying opportunity.
DHB dropped back. Looks weak still.
So...It's off for a some good, clean fun, with a little violence mixed in. Hahaha!!!

After a great weekend, I feel refreshed and ready to trade again! The hockey fight...uhh...I mean ... game was great! The Ice pilots won all three games this weekend. The food was great and the beer was....hold it.....I didn't drink any beer...well, the Diet Coke was cold.
Now to trading.
I'll keep watching AAI. It gapped up, which means it will probably fill that gap before it continues up.
DHB looks like it's forming a base. Might be time to consider a long entry.
I still don't think SIRI is ready to run. patience is the key on this one.
I have a trading buddy who will be at the money show in Orlando this week, so I'm sure he will come back with some good stock ideas. I could have gone, but that would have required using some of my hard earned leave time.

Here is a great article that shows the potential of DHB this year.
FLORIDA PROFESSOR LEADS DRIVE FOR NANO-ENHANCED ARMOR
By Phil Long
The Miami Herald
Jan. 31, 2005 – A Florida State University engineering professor and fellow researchers are trying to develop a lightweight composite material to protect soldiers' arms and legs from bullets and shrapnel without weighing them down like knights of the Middle Ages.
Such protection would have helped Patrick McDonald, 35, a Florida National Guard infantry soldier and computer network engineer from West Palm Beach. He was on a rooftop in Ramadi, Iraq, in 2003 when a sniper's bullet tore into his upper arm and ripped through his biceps, taking him out of action for five weeks.
James Thagard, 34, a visiting engineering professor and researcher at the Florida Advanced Center for Composite Technologies, is taking what he knows about high-strength composites to develop lightweight ballistic shields that can be inserted into battle uniforms to protect arms and legs.
An Army study of 2,010 soldiers seriously wounded and evacuated from Iraq showed that of more than 3,600 injuries, over half were to arms, legs and other extremities not usually protected by vests or helmets.
"Even if you don't agree with whether we should be over there or not, I think everybody agrees that you have to do whatever you can to protect human beings," Thagard said.
Since the beginning of the Iraq war, more than 1,370 U.S. soldiers have been killed and more than 9,800 wounded, according to Defense Department figures.
Homemade bombs were the most common cause of injuries, followed by shrapnel, blasts, gunshots, then "all other," the Army report said. The study covered injuries from March 19, 2003, through Nov. 30, 2004.
Thagard is working under a contract with Armor Holdings, a Jacksonville-based firm. The ballistic shields will be ready for field testing in three to six months, said Dennis Lang, vice president for business development for the aerospace and defense division of Armor Holdings.
The Marine Corps is testing a leg protector, and the Army is at work on extremities protection for soldiers in vehicles and those who work with disarming bombs and mines.
The ballistic shield material Thagard is working on could weigh less than one pound per square foot for protection equal to vests.
The ballistic shields are less than a quarter-inch thick, weigh about the same as the material in football pads and are made up of multiple layers of ballistic and structural fibers.
Unlike soft composite ballistic material, the shields are rigid and can protect from blunt force.
Thagard and his fellow researchers are also working on a shield made of a polymer composite using carbon nanotubes. Nanotubes are like microscopic garden hoses, so small that a single strand is invisible to the naked eye.
As shrapnel or bullets hit the ballistic shield, the nanotubes closest to impact pull apart, absorbing the energy and protecting the flesh.
Point Blank, a Pompano Beach firm, is the major supplier of military ballistic protection vests that protect the neck, chest and groin.
The company has developed an extension to the vest to protect the soldier's shoulders and underarm area, producing 10,000 sets monthly.
Point Blank is also working on additional extremities-protection equipment, but the company is not ready to discuss details yet.

lol...You've convinced me. I may try a small postion with a tight stop.
I was convinced...until I noticed the declining volume. Chances are that you are right about SIRI making a run, but I going to stay out. If you'll look at the chart for the past week, you'll see that, although SIRI has been in an uptrend, the trading volume has been in a steady decline.
Spike, I would be interested in your opinions about the declining volume. It is very possible I may be totally wrong.
If SIRI goes up and I miss the boat, I'll use this as a learning experience. That's what's cool about trading. Whether I win or lose, I'm always learning!
So the question is....Is declining volume on a rising stock a bearish indicator or a factor that will not stop the bulls from running?

RE: SIRI
So the question is....Is declining volume on a rising stock a bearish indicator or a factor that will not stop the bulls from running?
I have my answer. Declining volume on a rising stock IS a bearish indicator. SIRI dropped like a rock today. It may be temporary though.

I've placed a limit order for SIRI at $5.58 and DHB at $14.25. The chances of either one of these filling tomorrow is slim, but I like bargains. I will change my entry points, depending on tomorrows action and will look at the possibility of other longs.
BBW is still on my list and looks like it may possibly bounce back. Tomorrow should give a better indicator.
I'm being patient and will wait for the right opportunities to come along.

..Spike, I would be interested in your opinions about the declining volume....So the question is....Is declining volume on a rising stock a bearish indicator or a factor that will not stop the bulls from running?
Sure it can be interpreted that way. But if you look at other charts, declining volume on a bullish stock has meant little....other charts, it's meant a lot. So where do you draw the consistency high enough to be statistically significant? Does every chart showing declining volume lead to a drop in price. No. Sure, it's a thing to add to the list of other reasons you'd be bearish or non-bullish on a stock. If your system has that condition as a rule, then great. But is it in your system? Or is it discretionary? Caution with discretionary trading rules though - it's like a woman's mind (light-hearted jk). One day one thing, the next day another. :D Does this type of behavior do well with trading? Nope.
Frankly though Webs, there's always gonna be something about a chart that has a potential to make one caution and second guess.
Bottom line: I'm bullish right now for SIRI. The patterns speak for themselves. Patterns work. Charts don't lie. And the whisper today from the chart is SIRI is headed to 12.00 in the next 3 months or so. Pretty nice R/R if you snag a good entry on a weak day like at support.
Don't worry. I'll be bearish on SIRI again soon. But my conditions have to be met first. Right now, I'm a monkey at the wheel just following the signals :D

I like Spikes post on ZICA. I may look for an entry in it.
So far this year, I've been playing very cautious. I'veonly made two trades, but I think the time is here to get my feet wet again.
I have a couple hours to research new picks, before I have to go play my gig(yup, I'm a musician on the side)...but that's another, irrelevant story.
I haven't met my goal for a 100% return yet, but there's still lots of time left!
Oh yea...KKD keeps dropping. It's at $7.50 right now. I think KKD will end up being the big turn around story for the year. I'll buy a few shares when it hits the bottom.
MSO is still climbing. I knew I should have bought it when it was at $9!!! Fear was what made me miss this opportunity. FEAR SUCKS!!! I think MSO has more room to go. Martha's new show is going to be a huge hit. I guarantee you that she will come out of prison with a whole new image that will send her popularity skyrocketing. Heck, I'm even starting to dig Martha! You can bet that I'll be checking her new show out along with a few million others.

Yup...I was a rocker in my high school days, but the group "Alabama" got me turned on to country. I also found that I could make more money if I played country. By the way, I play drums. I used to play the club scene, but now I only do family oriented stuff.
Anyways, Alabama was my biggest influence in country. I finally got to meet and jam on a couple of occassions with Jeff Cook, who played lead guitar for Alabama, which was cool for me. He wasn't quite as excited as me, but we still had a good time. Jeff is retired and has a house close by, so I still get to hook up with him on occassion.
I've gotten to meet and know a few big names in the business, so it's been fun, but my main interest now is trading and trying to acheive financial independence. I'm not so sure if the financial independence thing is so much about the money as it is the challenge of trying to acheive it. I've found that working to acheive a goal is as much fun as actually acheiving it.

I've been looking at IPO's a lot lately and have found that a lot of them have made some pretty good gains. Of course a lot of them have also took some big drops, so I would never put too much capital into any IPO.
Rather than start another thread, I'll keep this whole deal right here on Websworld.
Here's the new IPO's so far this week with the opening prices...
1. ARP - $13.00
2. FRP - $18.50
3. HRAY - $10.25
4. THLD - $7.00
5. DRYS $18.00
There will be two more IPO's tomorrow and three more on Wed.

"No problem Jim. I always like to help the less fortunate. Just name your next child after me and we'll call it even."

A couple of factors bring me to this conclusion. While it is not an absolute indicator it is a very possible scenario.
DHB gapped up on Sept 24th after a big contract was anounced. If the gap were to fill it would mean a price drop to around $11.59. I wouldn't consider this possibility if it weren't for the huge insider selling at Christmas time. Investors have been losing interest in DHB, because of the actions of the DHB management. Folks have been pulling their money out left and right. I think it will drop below $12 in the next month or so.
Of course, it could fool me and shoot straight up. Nothing is guaranteed.

True, but DHB always has a way of catching me off guard. Just when you least expect it, news comes out and it runs like a bat out of h.... uh I mean.... it shoots straight up.
Agreed. I plan to hold it, and see what the earnings (March 15 or so) do. Only way I'll sell is if I see something better before then.
I don't think there's huge downside at this point outside of the gap you mentioned. If AH's issues do take it down some (guilt by association), may be an opportunity to add.

Even if DHB does fill the gap below $12, I don't think it'll stay there. The fundamentals and outlook are way too good for that to happen. I don't think you can lose by holding long term.
I'm considering buying back in while it's at these levels. I'd be curious to get Spikes and Mr Markets views on DHB. I think DHB would have to reach it's former highs for Mr Market to consider it.

Hi guys!
I'm back from France. It was cold, but we had a great time. We stayed at a Bed and Breakfast about 30 miles outside of Paris that I would highly recommend. If you like a quiet and relaxing atmosphere, this is the place to stay. The owners are very friendly and speak english very well. As a matter of fact, the husband is a transplanted American. Oh yea...You'll need to rent a car to get there. Here's a link to their Website. http://www.chateaudejonvilliers.com/
As far as trading, I see the market is headed south today, so I'll stay out once again. So much for SIRI...lol

Webs, did you bring back any great wines. Perhaps a nice burgundy or bordeaux. How about drinking them over there. Was the food and drink as good as they say? Anyway I've cancelled my subscription to the IBD forum tonight and have no other place to rant except here. I've become sick to my stomach with most of the dribble over there so I had to put an end to it. Can't believe it's been 3 years since I first subscribed there.

ahhh, but there is a big difference between the French and the French Canadians.
The French are very polite and sociable people. They will be nice to you as long as you attempt to speak a little French and are nice to them in return.
French Canadians are the rejects who got kicked out of their own country because they were rude to everyone in France. French Canadians love to come to Florida and complain about everything and try to prove how they are better than us southerners.
We should have sent troops into Montreal a long time ago. That would teach them a lesson...

Yup, they have filed Chapter 11. I'm glad I didn't buy that one. Now the big question is, will Winn-Dixie make a comeback? Could this be the next K-Mart? I wouldn't write them off just yet. I'll continue watching to see what WIN does next.

Here it is...almost March and I'm still in cash. I don't see anything going on to get me excited enough to put my money in the market. My only real prospect is BTFG, and that's only because I know that a buyout is likely sometime this year.
The facts are that the War is still on and oil prices are high, not to mention interest rates are starting to go up. Call me a pessimist, but I'm staying on the cautious side for now.
There is a bright side though. I still have my profits from last year.
Here's a few I'm still watching. BBW, DHB, SIRI, EP, BTFG, TOPT

Ya, looks like the gap got some serious support. After a 9% plunge, DHB has come back to offer an escape for Webs. The question is, did he stop out, is he holding, is he even interested in an escape. I'm sure the emotional vulcan will report to us soon. :D
I had nibbled on DHB when it bounced off of the 200 DMA for the first time - very strongly. Sold at the end of yesterday, when it broke under. Webs said before that he may wait until it filled that gap. I should have listened to him then :)

Oh well...You can't win em all. If DHB drops back to 12.15 tomorrow, I will sell. I am encouraged that it bounced back from a low of $11.55.

Ok, I'm looking at the chart.
Ouch...that was a pretty heavy sell off! We definitely got the 11.59 - 11.86 gap filled.
But wait...there is still a gap from June 9th that has not been filled. This one gapped from 9.30 - 11.50. Could it be possible that we may get this gap filled also? Considering the good fundamentals, I would consider that the extreme worst case scenario, but it could still happen. It's incredible how DHB has been beat down.
I will play the cautious side and will dump at my 5% loss point. If it drops below $12 again I think it's headed for $9.30. I can always re-enter at that point.
So, I have my plan. If this one doesn't work out, it will be my 3rd losing trade in a row. The good part is that my losses will be minimal and I will have plenty of money to buy the next winner with!
Any thoughts Spike? Negative vibes are welcome.

By the looks of it AH it traded up to 13.20. Don't know if they're late prints or what, but it would have been nice to take that and hop off. Now I see AH it's back to 12.29.
My thoughts: I didn't like it before today's plunge, as per the chart. After the plunge I hate it even more on the long side. It's weak, it's dangerous, and it's got gaps! Today's low MUST hold in my humble stubborn opinion. If it doesn't it is in deep doo doo. You have a larger two-headed SHS (otherwise known as a two-headed monster) staring at you, with a clear neckline break today. That targets 8.00ish on a log chart. If it were me, I'd not be holding this long. May the grace of God give you a chance to escape this one :D

I'm going to call a spade a spade and jump in front of you on this one Webs. You seem to be displaying that much-unwanted emotion and associated indecision. I'm reminding you that not 24 hours ago you were clear about your plan http://www.mrmarketishuge.com/forum/showpost.php?p=14624&postcount=319
I think perhaps you're making a technical error, in that you have chosen to hold at the wrong time. Had your entry been proven as well-timed, say at the gap fill, I'd be your biggest supporter to hold, but it wasn't. I praised you for a great technical intraday entry, and it was on an intraday basis, just not a daily basis, but in any case, despite my daily view of the stock, intraday price action proved your trade wrong, invalid and undesirable. The setup failed, and you held through a big downdraft (in itself another technical error, but that is your own r/r business and not mine). It's given you a chance to extricate yourself at break even, and yet you freshly decide today that it looks better and you're holding - depite the fact that it's at intraday pivot resistance, potentially setting up a intraday SHS, and in my humble opinion, at risk of falling to S2 at 9.70. Yes, S2 is that low today.
So with all due respect my vacillating vulcan friend, if you like DHB so much, you can attempt another smart well-timed entry when the moment presents itself. Holding right now you are exposing yourself to unnecessary risk, and you're on the wrong side of the trade.
No offence intended, and none will be taken by your reply :D

Ahhh, but Spike, you misunderstood me. Here is what I said -
"I'm still holding DHB. It's looking a little better today. I may not get out with a profit, but at least I'm not going to get slaughtered."
I meant that I was presently holding DHB and, yes, it was looking better, at the time. I also admitted that I would probably get out without a profit, but was glad that I wasn't going to get slaughtered.
After spending half a day on the firing range, blasting away at paper targets with a state issued firearm, I was fortunate enough to come home and catch a bounce up on DHB. I sold out at $12.70. That's only a .09 per share loss which is minimal. I will now watch to see if DHB makes a major gap fill. If not, I'll be looking for other longs.
Thanks for your great advice my knowledgeable friend! Feel free to preach the truth anytime. You can never offend me by trying to help a Vulcan in need.

So much for DHB. It's time to look for other longs....or shorts. I should be able to short soon, after I get my other account open, which will be right around the corner....as soon as I get a few more $$$ saved. Have I ever mentioned that I accept donations to my Paypal account? I should have been born wealthy. Instead, I had to be born a military brat. There's no money in that. I did get to see the world while I was growing up though. Yup, I'm well traveled, but poor.
That's why I'm here. I'm working on the problem of being poor. The market is a great tool to help the less fortunate achieve wealth. As I've stated before, I did increase my wealth last year through the market, and actually outperformed the prior years that I was invested in mutual funds. Every year I am making progress. I am no longer the pennyless young lad that I used to be. I now have at least four or five pennies. Tomorrow, I wll have six or seven pennies and my wealth will continue to build. One step at a time. That's how fortunes are made!
I see that PLUM had a good drop before it rebounded today. I'll be watching to see what happens tomorrow on this one. If Skiracer likes it, I'm willing to consider it. I have quite a few others that I watching, but my list is getting stale, so it's time to search for some new canidates.

Webs, you have been proven very wise my friend! Great decision that one, and even better discipline.
Let's just dwell on that for a moment. There's a tendancy for people to want to try for break even or a little more to cover the commission for the trade. The fact you didn't do this and took a little hit and the commission is a real good demonstration of following a plan despite emotion perhaps suggesting that breakeven is more respectable. I don't know if you felt this, but I know it's something I struggled with when I was less-experienced. So people reading the thread: do the logical and not the emotional!
In short: It's all over for DHBlows :D

Yep - it sure was. And emotion does suck. For the sake of a few bucks we are tempted to risk so much. DHB closed at 11.10, a full 13.2% below your entry! If I'm not mistaken, I see some pointy ears have grown on your head there. :D

I'll report any new long canidates tomorrow afternoon.
Well, I have to embarrassingly admit that I'm a 2-time loser on DHBlows. I actually had an initial gain, turned into a sllight loss when it went down to 17.
Kept dropping after I sold, then looked strong off the 200 DMA and decided to try again. I got out again before the next sell party started (luckily).
Makes a case for cutting losses short, and an experience to learn from.
Given the sell-off, this next earnings report must be a real doozy.

Webs,
It seems that if DHB didn't have great earnings now with the war and terrorism when would they. On the other hand ,why would the insiders sell if things were going so well? Maybe they figured they could cash in , take the heat for a couple months , then be vindicated when a great earnings report caused the stock to rocket again. Has there been any reports of them quietly buying back in the last couple weeks? It's a hard one to figure.

I paid about $4 for Diesel while I was in France, so I guess $3 is not really that bad compared to what the Europeans are paying. Their gas is close to $6! Lesson for the day...Pay extra for the deisel option if you rent a car in Fance.
I have a cold and feel like.... uh, I mean I don't feel good. I may take advantage of the situation and stay home tomorrow. If I do, chances are that I will try a trade or two.
DHB fell back again as well as SIRI.

PLUM, TASR, JUPM, CBK, NINE, MSO, XXIA, MFLX, PGI, APCS, XXIA, DAVE, SIM, BTFG, LOJN, SIM

Webs,
If you're looking for a short for Wed, March 9,2005, may I suggest that you short GM after the opening spike upwards. She's quite sick, you know, and has been dropping daily on above average volume. No divy to worry about until May 9. Looks weaker than SIRI. She's dropping about .40 per day. That's $400 per thousand, Webs. Might even pay to stay home from work tomorrow.
SIM broke under the lower triangle edge today. Looks like a bad trade right now.
I had bought at the 50 DMA yesterday. Not down much, but wish I'd waited.

Bummer.
Relooking at it, yes, that's clearly a triangle break. I still don't think it qualifies as a descending triangle though, just a regular triangle. I'd describe the whole daily pattern more as a double top leading to failure at price support, bearish triangle break, searching for lower channel at 5.00ish.
A good example of why one should be cautious around anything that has the potential of being a double top, and if you were looking for the bigger ascending triangle I speculatively drew, the logical stop is the break of the rising edge.
Add this one to the list of failed good patterns. A good pattern is a good pattern until it isn't I suppose. Same old same old isn't it?! :)

Ask yourself this..if gasoline were $10/gallon, would you stop driving? My guess is that you would not. What this tells you is that the demand for gasoline will not ebb with higher prices and, as a result, the trend will be higher, in the long run.

I took a look at NTE and think that you may be onto sometime for a couple of reasons. The first one being that the tech sector is very weak right now and that's a help if you're going to short something there. On the daily those last two days candles are showing signs of weakening. Thursdays was showing consolidation after a few days of uptrend and two small gaps up last week. Fridays was indecision on lower volume on basically a down day for the markets which kind of stopped the uptrend whether temporairly or to begin further consolidation remains to be seen.
I would bet on a small reversal and pullback to fill those two small gaps to around 24/25 area. Both the RSI and the CCI are in the overbought areas on those scales so a small drop could easily be in the cards this week. I'm adding it to my picks for the portfolio of the week, although I don't know for sure if I would enter a short position but it looks good for that. I would have to see how things go after the bell on Monday.

I have been telling you that a good play would be to short GM. Today GM announced that the projected $4-5 earnings would turn out to be a $1-2 loss! And remember, Ford (F) the sister stock does exactly what the General does, so look for lower prices the next few days. I see GM at $29-30 soon, and Ford may test the $10 mark.

Ray LONG,
No wonder you don't short! You are Ray LONG! [smile]
It is awful news for everyone. First, as GM goes, so goes the Dow. Start calculating what will happen to the Dow now that the General is wounded.
Secondly, the blind greed of the UAW has got to be stopped to save the US economy. GM has 2 people retired for every 1 working, and the healthcare and retirement costs are staggering. Furthermore, in 1984 GM signed a contract with the UAW in which GM agreed that they would pay a laidoff employee 95% of his income for up to two years! That's quality management, isn't it?
Thirdly, the deal with FIAT. GM paid them $4.4 Billion not to buy Fiat. Awful management. Rick Wagoner: YOU'RE FIRED!
Both F and GM have had their bonds downgraded to junk status. That is awful news for us all.
Now for the REAL problem: TOO MUCH GOV'T SPENDING is destroying the US ecomomy. God says an economy runs off of work, savings, and investment. The US economy runs off of debt, spending and credit. It must collapse sooner or later.
The world history of Representative Republics (i.e. they type of government we have here): 200 years, more or less, and then they fail because the people figure out how to vote themselves money from the treasury. They have all died the same kind of death: the Treasury failed. The government that follows is a dictatorship.
I am sorry at the news, too.

You can also bet that the companies like SIRI are going to get hammered. Why? Because they don't make money anyway, and now they have a slimmer prospect of making a profit. It will take probably six months for the GM news to effect the economy, but it sure will.

RL,
Shorting a stock is not sin. Indeed, shorters help a market. On a dark day like today, many might say that shorters hurt the falling stocks. But the truth is that every short seller is a guaranteed buyer, and they help the stock recover. Probably most people who own GM today want out, and who is going to buy the stock? The farsighted people who speculated that GM was due to fall because it was overpriced.
What we need here is Spike or Jiesen to find the bottom for us because Rick Wagoner is still going to pay that $2 divy!
New Born never said It was a sin. I belive more money made shorting stocks If you know what you are doing. also I'm with Ameritrade and you have to have a margin account.which I don't really want, to tempting.

I have to agree with Webs about staying away from DHB. They have such a large backlog of orders and business has been great but still no cigar. I feel that the insider selloff has had to do some damage psychologically with traders but still that should be water over the dam by now.
In todays markets the need for instant gratification with big reports over guidance is the norm. When they only meet or barely exceed expectations or guidance it's no play on the part of the big money. I see no reason for them to want to own the stock for that reason alone. I was totally surprised that the report was as low as it was barely over the estimates.

DHB--it has just joined my dirt list. I have sworn off of stocks that are not market leaders, unless of course, I plan to short them. Done!
DHB hasn't made a serious attempt to quell investor dissatisfaction since the insider sales. They were apparently bombarded with so many calls that they had to outsource the investor relations. Yeah, really helps when one can no longer talk directly to the company.
Anyway, investors are punishing the stock accordingly.

The afterhours action was the big clue to todays selloff. It started to drop immediately after the earnings announcement. It was already in trouble because of the uncaring managment.

So what's it going to be? A big Cobia? An awesome stock trade with thousand of dollars of profits? Or...a few cold drinks? It doesn't matter, as long as I'm enjoying it does it?
Have a good day guys! I'll post more later.

DHB is still dropping like a Chinese Airliner with no wings! I know, it's a strange analogy, but it's all I could come up with on short notice.
Anyways, I'm beginning to wonder if this one will ever be a buy again.
Hmmm...if I'm thinking this, than that means everyone else must be thinking the same thing. Could DHB be starting to hit it's bottom? After all, they do have a huge backlog of orders. It's just that their CEO is a loser and doesn't know how to run his company. Mr Brooks is getting rich at the shareholders expense...what a sleaze.

lol @ webs. Welcome to high speed! You're huge. Your SIRI trade was not :D hahaha Seriously, good for you. You bought near lod and sold near hod. Whatever your triggers, they worked for a scalp. Considering SIRI's apparent indecision, and potential for a drop, you did very well today.

I bought DHB at $8.91. I wish I could have got in at the channel support of $8.62, but I spent the day in the boat and missed the perfect entry point. I'll set my stop tight. I should be able to make some money.

Webs nails an entry!
Yep - channel long is working! Good entry point that; the ascending triangle bullish break, so it's logical. Now sit back, put a stop tucked under today and relax, enjoy the ride to a logical channel or the gap resistance. Don't take it off too early though; could see 16.00 pretty quickly. Very nice reversal candle on the daily. You do NOT want to hold long if today's low fails.

Spike, that sure looks like a rock dropping to me....No, it dropped like a rock yesterday; the day before; early march and a week either side of the new year. Today's decline is more a meandering correction of the bullish support that came in yesterday. In fact, I can see 5 waves down now, so this last up is the 'a', should be a 'b' down, then 'c' back up; then there will be a 'c' short failure, and a rocket up! hehe well, that's what I would like :D

I'll buy back on the "B" down. :)OK, B down ended 8.86, then C up ended 8.91. That is the C short entry potential. It's dropped to 8.87 and hanging there. A push up now to over 8.92 should open the door to C failure and hopefully a whole bunch of covering and some healthy bull activity. If the low of day fails, the C short is valid and you don't want to hold your entry. Me, since I'm sitting pretty I don't have to sweat it. I'll just keep my stop tucked under yesterday's low.

DHB is holding it's own, so I'll keep holding.

I was trying to buy it based on news that they had exceeded subscriber growth...bad move. I tried that once before on another stock and that one failed also. So, I have learned my lesson. News sucks...I need to stick to the old saying. Buy on rumor, sell on news. I'm a stubborn young Vulcan, but I'm slowly learning.
Maybe DHB will work out, since I bought it based on the chart. :)
News is a tough play IMO...Fun...But it comes and goes REAL quick...requires a constant eye.
IMO...The news on the Pope didn't have any bearing on the market...It may have if it was sudden...but since it was a gradual thing...I don't think there was any influence...IIC

Ok...I'm out of DHB.
I took my loss and will move on. Fortunately for me, I never risk too much of my capital on any stock, so the loss is minimal as usual.
I may not have won on this trade, but I'll hit a good one soon enough!
Regardless of whether I was up on DHB or not, I was going to have to sell out and get back in cash for a few days until I get this virus out of my computer. I have a trojan that keeps popping ads up while I'm trying to work. I've ran many scans and nothing is working.
I had "Pc-cillin", but it didn't work on this one, so I've switched to "Stop Sign" antivirus. Stop Sign guarantees to get any virus out and will refund your money. I've been working with their support people and they've been great so far.
Anyways, I have to run a diagnostics scan on my PC and let it sit until tomorrow, in order to give them time to find a solution. This means, I'll be out of action for a day or two. :(
I'll be back...
The website I got the virus from is roughstock com and cowpie com. I have been there many times before to get lyrics and guitar chords for songs. Not anymore....

Yeah, it's a punch in the guts. See why I like tight stops :D But it's a channel short on the daily today, after an expanding weekly channel, with 5th wave completion as an intraday pattern. I wouldn't be holding it overnight, let's just say that much. I'll be watching it tomorrow for a possible short entry....... it all depends on how it acts.
But crummy luck anyway Webs. Nothing worse that a tagged stop and reversal.

At least we aren't like some of the DHB bagholders who held on from the $20 and lost a pile of cash. I watched a few of them on the IBD boards who were sure it would rebound and they repeated this all the way down. They lost a lot more than 5%.

You are not a bagholder. All you did was learn a valuable lesson.
The guy who balmed the other poster was the bagholder.
It's hard to believe that someone would blame someone else for their loss. That's what seperates the winners from the losers. Losers blame someone else for their losses. winners use those losses to learn how to win the next time.
It's all about attitude. If you think you can or can't you are right.

I still like the long term prospect of SIRI, but I do believe it can eventually be bought in the $4 range again. I'll wait and see.
For now I'm concentrating on some other investment opportunities.
I've been looking for some good real estate investments. Anyone have any tips? Property in my area has gone out of site, so I don't have much hope of finding aything decent around here.
I have considered the Gatlinburg Tennessee area. Land appears to still be fairly affordable there, and it would be a good place to build a few cabins. I actually enjoy construction work as long as it doesn't involve framing or roofing. I replaced the roof on my house, but It wasn't much fun. Next time I'll contract it out.

Webs,
Gatlinburg, TN is a beautiful place. But I was just thinking that it might be a long commute for a Southern Alabama boy like yourself to build a few houses in TN . . . .
You've made too much money in the markets if you can say "I like construction, except for roofing and framing." A few more big hits in the market and you'll be too lazy to cross the street for a Coke. You'll pay someone to go get one for you. :) Or else you'll go back to using the ole Star Trek teleporter.
Seriously, why don't you stop holding cash and buy some Cans and make some money? Four months in cash is too long. Drop me a line and I'll give you a few Cans and buy points to direct you into some monthly income.
