I'm going to stay in cash for a couple of days(I think)...see what happens to the market. I guess it is possible that I might buy a little something if the mkt turns around...but even if it does, I think it would only be temporary to sucker some people in.

However I do like the intermediate term on the NAZ...This chart is very encouraging for the 30-90 day outlook:

Here's an interesting little tidbit...The A/D on the NAZ was +1599...2357 issues advanced(I use an avg of Yahoo and Merrill Lynch Diary). 2357 is the highest number since November 12th...it is also the second highest since November 28, 2002.

The 5 day A/D was deep into OverSold yesterday at a staggering
-1049...it is now at -726.

The 10 day was -355 yesterday and is now -225...The 12 day was -164 and is now -105...Sorry, I don't happen to have the 30 day here at work.

The market is is the "I dont know what the hell to do stage".
My estimations hovver around the fact that Pakistan says they have # 2 terrorist leader of AL Q surrounded.. After hour market volume is fairly high and QQQ and SPY are both up fairly good amounts in the after hours..
This is poosibly because of the news
I look for a strong morning tomorow, and look for gold to move.
SUNW is a bargain right now,, especially since the market is going to reverse shortly.. it will regain some of its lost momentumm..

Well, I would say you made a very good buy...looks a little over extended now though...I don't really like to give solid advice...I am more of a "Here Is An Idea For You To Consider Kinda Guy"...But, since you asked...Why not trim and sell 1/2 now?...That way, if it heads South you can bail and still realize a nice profit?...Just a thought...I HATE losing $$$ on a good gainer...but to be honest...It has happened to me many times...Best Of Luck...IIC

I bought some NIAG on Tue. Of last week in the 6.50 range. I have been watching this stock since the last run up in DEC. I bought it in the 5.50 range and watched it go to 4.21, before this current run. I sold most of my position at 8.20's. Like I said I bought some more at 6.50ish looking for a 9-11 range after it releases earnings.

Good luck.

I pretty much think we are close to the bottom...

Support was at 1904/1887/1872/1842/1783 with 1872 being the strongest.

But we got back over 1904 which I think was important...will have to wait and see tomorrow.

I did OK with GSS and GRS...but I may have jumped the gun on AMED...but I held on because I think it is a good company and I like the daily chart...So if the market rebounds now I feel comfortable with it. If the market tanks further... then...well, 2 outta 3 ain't bad I guess...IIC

Some of the more traditionalists have commented that the numbers change w/o rhyme or reason...That is not true...Rather than simply looking at old highs/lows and other such things, I use a mathematical formula combing Fibs w/ MACD, Stochs, RSI, Congestion, Swings AND Highs/Lows to come up with these numbers.

Venture-Backed IPO Activity Continues to Show Strength in Q1 2004

Pipeline Suggests Sustainable Pace for Remainder of Year

New York, NY, 04/01/2004
Thirteen venture-backed companies raised $2.72 billion through Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) in the first quarter of 2004, representing the most money raised since the third quarter of 2000, according to Thomson Venture Economics and the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA). This value is more than double compared to last quarter’s total of $1.05 billion. The majority of the $2.72 billion can be attributed to a single IPO, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp., which raised $1.8 billion through their initial public offering. Nevertheless, thirteen venture-backed IPOs rank second for activity since the second quarter of 2002.

The largest IPO in Q1, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp, had an investor group comprised of Walden International, New Enterprise Associates, Doll Capital Management, Oak Investment Partners, and Shanghai Industrial Holdings. The next largest venture-backed IPOs were: EyeTech Pharmaceuticals, Inc., which raised $136.5 million and was backed by J.P. Morgan Partners, BB Biotech AG, Schroder Ventures Life Sciences, Pfizer, MPM Capital, and Merrill Lynch; Atheros Communications, Inc., which raised $126.0 million and was backed by Foundation Capital, August Capital Management, New Enterprise Associates, and Fidelity Investments; and Symbion, Inc., which raised $108.0 million and was backed by Pacific Venture Group, ABS Capital Partners, Richland Ventures, South Atlantic Private Equity Fund, and J.H. Whitney.

The Biotechnology industry accounted for six of the thirteen venture-backed IPOs for the first quarter of 2004, but only accounted for $433.2 million, or 15.9%, of the total $2.72 billion raised. The largest IPO in the Biotechnology sector was EyeTech Pharmaceuticals. Two companies in the Semiconductor/Other Electronics industry category went public in the first quarter, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. and Atheros Communications, Inc., accounting for $1.93 billion of the $2.72 billion total raised. The Medical/Health industry saw four companies go public during the first quarter, raising a total of $272.9 million.

In addition to the IPOs completed this quarter, there are currently 50 venture-backed companies “in registration” with the Securities and Exchange Commission. These companies have filed with the SEC in 2003 or 2004 and are now preparing for their initial public offerings. With this solid “pipeline”, a strong level of activity in venture-backed IPO market appears sustainable in the near future.

“A strong IPO market is essential for the long-term health of the venture capital industry. In the past two quarters we have witnessed increased strength in the IPO market, which is a positive sign. However, current IPO activity continues to significantly lag where we need to be in order to declare full recovery,” remarked Mark Heesen, President of the National Venture Capital Association.

The Thomson Venture Economics Post-Venture Capital Index (PVCI) is a market cap weighted index of the performance of stock of all venture-backed companies taken public over the last 10 years. As the chart indicates, the PVCI has significantly outperformed the S&P, NASDAQ and the Dow Jones Industrial Average over the past year, but has slightly lagged its three counterparts over five and ten years.

AFTER HOURS:

Three I was watching...YIKES!!!...I did catch a nice gain on FMTI in Feb and it was on my morning watch today...but I think I'll be dead long before they ever get rid of cholesterol now...

BRKT...Brooktrout warned that it now expects first-quarter results to come in lower than previously expected, saying customers were reassessing their inventory levels and slowing their expenditures. The communications systems provider said it expects to post breakeven results or a "small profit" on sales of $18.1 million to $18.3 million, vs. a prior forecast for earnings of $500,000 to $1 million on sales of $21 million to $22.5 million. For the second quarter, Brooktrout said it expects to post breakeven results on sales of $18.5 million to $19.5 million. Brooktrout shares lost 29 percent to change hands for $15.91 in late trade.

OMCL...Omnicell, maker of procurement and inventory-management software used by hospitals and nursing homes, on Monday said it expects first-quarter earnings of 7 or 8 cents a share, based on sales of $27.5 million to $28 million. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had been expecting earnings of 12 cents a share, based on sales of $30 million, on average. The company said that its order backlog in the period increased $4 million from the previous quarter to $42 million. Omnicell shares were last changing hands for $15.75, down 23 percent.

FMTI...But topping the volume leaders were shares of Forbes Medi-Tech. The Canadian firm said that a Phase II clinical trial of its FM-VP4 cholesterol-lowering drug found that the treatment was only 11 percent more effective in reducing low-density lipoprotein cholesterol than a placebo. The company said it was "encouraged" enough to pursue further development of the drug. Forbes Medi-Tech shares were last trading for $3.85, a 45.5-percent plunge.

Many use highs/lows and trading congestion only as S/R...I use that to a certain extent...but I also use Confluence including those criteria and Fibonacci projections, gaps, swings, and chart indicator crossovers e.g. MACD, RSI, Stochastics, etc...

I also know some much better technicians than I who send me info and their thoughts daily...I consider their input as well. I do not figure this more than once a day as I work full-time...so whatever I come up with the night prior is what I go by. I also perform the same calcs for my "A" watchlist...If I am asked the S/R for a particular stock during the day that is not on my lists...I have to estimate....But S/R is not an exact science anyway unless you just use highs/lows.

I don't think of S/R as being an end all to investing...but I think it is extemely helpful...For example, if a stock blows past strong resistance on volume I strongly consider a buy.

Glad you caught TRMM...I was watching it closely but never got in...Best, IIC

P.S....The only STUPID question is the one that is never asked IMO

In for a bunch of shares @2.07 on look. IIC what caused this heavy volume and what do you think I should put my stop loss to?

I went in as a symapthy move on the YHOO news...I was hoping to get 2.30...resistance at 2.12...I am looking at a daytrade here. Looks like IVIL or TOMO would have been better choices...but I had been following LOOK.

There was heavy buying today in large volume, that means the bigboys were buying and there is something surfacing that we don't know about. I am anticipating a analyst upgrade or earnings on April 29 to blow out of the water. I had a very itchy finger to sell at 2.30 today but decided not to. Hopefully my anticipation serves me correct.

Dave
04-08-2004, 05:29 PM
I don't know anything about LOOK, but I almost always will sell a stock I am up on before earnings are released. If the news is good enough to sustain the momentum, I can re-buy without losing out on too much gain. If the news is not great, I am out with a nice profit. I suggest at the very least putting in a stop-loss to try and protect your profits. You can easily adjust it if you have the time to keep a close eye on things...

I only BOT LOOK as a daytrade in sympathy with the YHOO announcement. I had about 10 stocks in the same group last night that I was considering...I was familiar w/ LOOK and it was cheap...so I went w/ it...Only BOT 3,000 shs so I made about 300 bux. I have absolutely no idea where it will be 2 weeks from now.

I trade different ways w/ varying amts. of money. On my daytrades and lunch money plays I go in light, like LOOK.

I have a medium stake in WITS and HANS...I think they are both good cos. I have a semi-medium stake in GMAI. I have a very small amt in FMTI which I BOT on the gap down at 3.45 on news...Another Lunch Money play...but I am mostly in Cash right now...Best, IIC

The short term A/D and U/D vol oscillators indicate we have a little more downside on the Naz...That doesn't necessarily mean we will be down on Friday...However, the Futures are down 6.5 right now.

We bounced off the strongest Support level of 1990 today which is a positive sign...but I'm not going to go out and celebrate just yet.

Current Holdings remain...GMAI, WITS, HANS, HURC, ZIXI and my lunch money play FMTI.

Usually, I do not hold when the Naz turns...however, I am confident that the first 5 listed will rebound when the market turns next week...Best to All...IIC

These are High Relative Strength Nasdaq Stocks that closed up(or are up if I post a midday list) on at least 1.5x Average Daily Volume.

Basically they had Momentum today...They are not recommended buys, but you may want to consider checking them out to see if they meet your other parameters. They tend to be volatile so be careful...Best, IIC
