Top Group so far: Alcoholic Beverages led by BUD
In 1970 a six pack of Bud cost 300% more than a gallon of gas...Now it's only 30% more

Traded BUD for +.46
According to news reports, InBev SA is considering a takeover of Anheuser-Busch (BUD). Insiders stress that no decision has been made and that an unfriendly approach would have complications, given Anheuser's standing as an American icon, etc. For more on this see briefing.com (if you are a subscriber).

And of the 1,000+ members, Riverbabe's photo has the most views...I'm serious.
Actually, for so many customers there are not that many members...However, it is still in beta and most customers don't even know about it yet.

Doug,
At .99 for a large can of bud, it's much cheaper in my smal town than a bottle of water or a coca cola. Too bad I don't drink it.

At my local store it is $5.99 including tax($.083 oz) for a 6 pack of Coors or Bud...Now if I buy 3 cans of 24 oz it is $5.66 including tax($.079 oz.) It is much cheaper to buy quart bottles...then it is only $.051 oz...But since I don't like to pour my beer in a glass and I can't see myself sittin' around drinking out of quart bottles I opt for the cans.
It used to be that beer was cheaper at the major grocery stores...NO MORE unless you buy an 18 pack. But I don't think my wife would go for a refrigerator full of beer.

Doug,
Speaking of winners, a local kid , Cory Leslie, just won the Ohio state hs 800 m. championship in 1:50.77. Last Nov. he won the Ohio state Cross Country crown with a 15:33.47. It's possible you ran against his father around 1970-71 I think his name is Paul Leslie. They said he was running past people in the championship as if they were standing still.

Doug,
We've got tough kids here. This is the girls XC championship 2007. This girl heard several cracks during the race while her bottom leg bones were breaking. Watch at about the 1:40 mark.

Heck...I woulda picked that girl up and carried her across the finish line myself...Altho I did run some cross country between football practices...That is super hard.
I preferred the 100 and 200...I was probably the best at the 400/440...But that was really hard too...In fact, I was the National Jr. Champion in the 440 in 1971...That race was TOUGH!!!
As I mentioned before I was also in the 400 at the Jr. Olympics in 1970...I got eliminated in the prelims...But I ran the 2nd leg on our CA 800 relay team...We kicked those BIG MOUTH Texans in the butt and ran away with the GOLD.
Track and Field was fun...It was also a great way to meet girls...Doug

"Oh what a tangled web we weave...When first we practice to deceive"
Now...I don't recall who made up that saying...But I wouldn't doubt that he had Bernanke on his mind when he wrote it.
So now what??? Bernie's all hepped up on fighting inflation...So what's he gonna do?...Turn off the money presses?...OK...That will help inflation...But Geez!!! ...What are the Banks gonna do???
Reminds me of the Willie Sutton story...He was one of the most prolific bank robbers of all time...Read the last line of the second paragraph on the site below...I wonder what Willie would say today???

I'm pleased to announce that the IIC 100 Top 10 has finally turned green AND surpassed the IBD 100 Top 10.
YTD:
IIC 100 Top 10 +2.24%
IBD 100 Top 10 +1.26%
Interesting to note that the IIC 100 Top 10 was -36.19% on March 7th while the IBD 100 Top 10 was -28.30%...Since that time the IIC 100 Top 10 has increased +60.2% while the IBD 100 Top 10 has increased +41.2%.
For those of you that have followed this for the past couple of years you know that both lists far out perform the markets in an uptrend...However, they both fare worse than the major indices in a downtrend.
Results from 2006
IIC 100 Top 10 +26.86% (after hitting a high of +34.45% on 5/5)
IBD 100 Top 10 -3.82% (after hitting a high of +45.67% on 5/5)
Results from 2007
IIC 100 Top 10 +41.88% (after hitting a high of +82.57% on 10/26)
IBD 100 Top 10 +17.79% (after hitting a high of +31.40% on 10/26)
Conclusion: Go long on uptrends and short on downtrends.

Actually, my zip code went up over 4%...However, your dream of moving to CA for under $200k is not so far from the realm of reality anymore....In fact, you could do it today...Now, you won't be in any fancy dancy area but if you don't mind the desert heat or the snow in the San Bernardino Mountains...You're in...We'd practically be neighbors...Well, within about 100 miles anyway.
If I didn't work in Downtown L.A. I wouldn't mind living in the San Bernardino Mountains or even the Palm Springs area. However, my wife might not go for it...But then again...
The reason many of the prices in the San Bernardino Mountains are down so much is because many are second homes...And generally in a bad economy those are the first to go.
Some of the communities in the mountains listed in San Bernardino County are:
Big Bear City
Big Bear Lake
Blue Jay
Cedar Glen
Crestline
Fawnskin
Green Valley Lake
Lake Arrowhead
Rim Forest
Running Springs
Sky Forest
Sugarloaf
Twin Peaks
I might have missed a few from the list...The largest area up there is Big Bear...And it is over 7,000 ft...Lake Arrowhead may be the nicest...Won't get a lakeside place for the average price listed though...Crestline is the closest for people to come down the hill and most of it is 4 lane highway from Crestline.

I'll take the snow. Can't handle desert heat. Wait a minute, wasn't there some type of weirdo mass murderer around Big Bear Lake a few years ago?

This morn I lost on QLD and FXP...I must be the only person in the World to have lost on FXP today...Got almost all of it back on QID later...But still...."Don't let your summer be a bummer"...CASH OUT NOW!!!
I only saw the first 1 1/2 hrs and the last 45 mins...Went back to plan after yesterday...No rush...Very relaxed and I traded QLD 3x and QID 1x...Had my best $$$ day on the ETF DT's in quite a while.
On another note...Today had the highest number of Today's MoMo stocks that I ever remember since I started scanning for them in March 2004...Over 100 of them...I have not looked closely yet to see what type of stocks they generally were...And I don't save the daily lists so I can't say for sure that it was a record...But I'm fairly certain it was...Not sure why we had so many???

Doug,
Wow, Nixon was a bigger stinker than I thought.
Speaking of winners I mentioned the local kid who ran a 1:50 800 meters in the Ohio State H.S. championships, his split in the 3200 relay held an hour later was 1:48 and he also Won the 1600m for the second year in a row can't remember the time. He got a full scholarship to Ohio State. Anyway, a friend of mine's son who goes to the same school and just started high school has beat the guys times so far in comparable age groups but I doubt if he can keep it up. They call him "Bullet Bill".

I held some age group records at one time...But it seems that the older I got the slower I got...I blame girls for that
Actually I think I lucked out a bit today on averaging down on CALM and my final QID trade...I'll take it but not a whole lot of satisfaction as far as trading correctly(I always remember Spike's advice when I do that)

Tax time should be interesting...Doug
I'm giving up stocks...Just gonna trade the ETF's...lol
Resorted to even daytrading in Tax accounts...might as well put the cash to work as much as is allowed...Decent last 2 days...Doug
ETF's...One in the morn and one late...did pretty good...But the day started out bad as I could not get online ... I downloaded the latest Windows Updates late last night...Had to restore my computer back 2 days to finally get on.
Ends up the new Windows Update is not compatible w/ Zone Alarm
http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/tech_and_web/article4304820.ece
Then...to make matters worse...for the past 4 years anyway...But better for the future ...I find out today that you can day trade as many times as you want in a non-margin cash account or an IRA as long as you are using "Settled" funds...I never knew that...How many millions have I missed out on???
After the market closed yesterday we went down to La Jolla for the Scottrade User Summit today.
I bot BABY on Friday...Placed a limit sell at 23.15...only made it to 23.11 after that...Put in another late just over 23...they came up and picked off some but not all of my shares...Doug

Overall they didn't end up so nice...I bot ALKS today and still holding SGP from yesterday...Also have some BABY left from last Friday that they didn't come up and take...DT'd CLDN today for some pocket change...Doug
GOOG whacked a/h ( -$40) as they missed eps ests...Took the Q's with them.
I dt'd CCK and AMED...made some on each although I had to average down on AMED...well, I didn't have to but I did. I sold ALKS from

didn't take last Friday of my BABY so that worked out.
Only thing I own is SGP which I bot on Tuesday...I'm currently
down .50sh on it but everything else has worked the past week...Doug

Is it any wonder that WaMu is on my Sharptraders.com Top 10 Banks Most Likely To Fail list?

Here is another chart to help you to try to determine the trend...It
uses the TRIX 5,2 and TRIX 8,5...I also show the TRIX 15,9 which is
considered the DEFAULT setting...But the default is a laggard indicator imo.
I use weekly charts only so I can show a longer timeframe. Using
weekly charts will not allow you totry and call a top or
bottom...However, the same concept can be used on Daily charts but you
will get more whippy action. If you are not familiar with TRIX please

Doug,
I found 480 foreclosures near me (in this county)by clicking your easy to use link. Now that you tell me it's possible to buy a place for 200K in California, my son wondered whether it would be better for him to put 10% down and buy a place in the boondocks in Cal. and drive to work in a bigger city if it wasn't too far or pay a monthly rent. I told him buying would probably be better if he had a decent job.

Don't forget the cost of gas...Altho I paid only 4.47 this week...Plus the traffic...although with gas so high the traffic is a little lighter.
Rents are pretty darn high in a halfway decent area...Near where I live 3 bdrm apts go for up to $2895 mo. And in some areas they are higher. Of course in some areas they are lower...Doug
PNSN +.41...Worked out well...pulled back right after I sold...But later it really took off.
QDEL...Took a while to do anything so I put on a limit sell and when I got to work they had already come up and taken me out for +.22...Naturally it went up higher later.
VDSI...Waited too long to buy and wanted out before the close...Ran outta time but I made +.08.

Hey IIC,
It's been awhile since I've posted anything here as I got my ass kicked in February, but I've been watching and reading what everyone's got going. I've found that DT ETF's have been pretty good for me. Specifically SKF and conversely UYG but primarily SKF.
Here's my question; since SKF's price isn't based on price or demand but on the inverse performance of other stocks what kind of indicators are there to look at when watching SKF? I've held over a few times and have gotten a few 5% pops, but I'm also looking at July 15th when overnight SKF dropped 40%, so I'm pretty leary of doing anything more than just DT.
Any thoughts?!?
Chris
They came up and took out my sell limit on VSE...Of course it is an SEC Rule that a stock has to go up after I sell...LOL...But I'll take it :)
No other trades today...Doug(IIC)

I never really traded SKF...I use QLD/QID as fillers when I do not have anything going.
Remember...it is really supply/demand...not the index that they track that really moves the price on these ETF's.
For VERY short term I like the ADX 7 and TRIX 8,5 and TRIX 5,2 the best...Also want the CCI 20 in an uptrend.
I do not like to hold these overnight...For the past 9 months anyway...Best, Doug
Also, on QID/QLD I watch the action on the Top Heavyweights in the Naz 100...The SKF attempts to track $DJUSFN
Here are the components in descending weighted order...The first 21 make up over 50% of the index weight:

William Oneill is my Shephard...I shall not want...He taketh away my green dollars: he leadeth me to losses. He loseth my money. he leadeth me in the paths of dispair for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of losses, I will fear no bankruptcy: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they hurt me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine creditors; thou annointest my head with debt; my Canslim spilleth over. The intraday watch lists were not faring so well... I switched tactics and looked for stocks in today's strongest groups... I day traded TRA and PAAS...Not exactly what I was looking for but I was +.34sh and +.10sh respectively.
Nobody came up and took me out of Friday's NDN so I still have that but I'm green now...Also still holding COGT and SGP along with BECN...That's it...Best, Doug
Another crummy day for last night's watchlist...A/D/U was 5/12/0 and
nothing except FXP looked any good from the open.
We fared much better watching the Coal group...
I traded JRCC +.40sh and ACI +.22sh...would've done much better by
holding....But I was busy.
Late I traded AWK -.23.
We won't talk about my regular holdings altho SGP was green for a
change.
I was not around much today however I traded RIO +.52sh and DPTR -.38(Right Group/Wrong Timing).
No sells on my 4 regular holdings NDN, COGT, BECN, and of course the one that went down...SGP
I traded KGC +.20 avg.,PCU +.445 avg. and I bot HLX which I heldover
(currently dn. .20 from my buy)...Doug
I now have real time Crude Oil and Comex Gold charts right on my homepage...they auto refresh every 10 secs or so 24 hours a day from Sunday evening till Friday afternoon during 24 hour trading hours.

Doug,
Do the majority of your day trades come from stocks on your IIC100 or cups w/handles lists? Thanks
------------billy
No...They come from watching the best stocks in the moving groups and the ones that come up in my Power Technical Scan
I would suggest that the IIC 100's and CwH's are good candidates in a Bullish environment...We are not in that now...But I continue posting them for those that like that sort of stuff...Best, Doug
Doug,
Do the majority of your day trades come from stocks on your IIC100 or cups w/handles lists? Thanks

Watched Builders and Building Suppliers when I could...Only got a quick +.10 on CX...Too bad...there was some nice money to be made today...May miss the whole market tomorrow...BUT BUY THE BEST STOCKS IN THE GROUP'S DU JOUR...Best, Doug
Too busy dealing w/ Ike today...No trades
Coal was the group du jour...I handled MEE bad but still made .40sh avg...Chalk it up to some good and bad luck as I was up much more and down much more at certain points.
Sheesh!!!...I feel like I've already been thru a hurricane...In my other life I manage 110 Commercial office buildings in CA, NM and TX...This week I've been very busy with preps for IKE in Houston so not much time for the markets.
However, I bailed on FTO today and COGT...+.61 and +.16...Of course they both went higher but FTO was a wild 2 week ride. I had owned COGT since 8/8...I prefer to concentrate on Day Trades anyway...Only holding I still have is BECN.
Late I was able to DT BGG from my technical scan for a quick +.16sh.
Have at least 3 c/c's for tomorrow so may not be able to trade.

Traded QID +.64sh and QLD +1.07sh...Doug
PS...Didn't happen EXACTLY this way but here is an excerpt from my weekend email that I sent to my subscribers (btw...it is FREE):
I don't know if or when this might happen...But the thought occurred
to me the other day that there could be a day where the market just
crashes...You may not be able to trade online...The phones at your
broker may give you a fast busy signal...And there may be nothing you
can do...I thought that it might not be so bad if you are holding
something like QID...But look what happened to SKF on the short
rules...I know these Ultras use swaps, derivatives etc...But I have
yet to run into anyone who can actually tell me how they
operate...Just food for Thought.
Made one trade QID +.42sh
Traded QID +.25...of course it kept going...Doug
Not too bad today... QID plus .25, QID plus .54, GE plus .18 and QLD minus .08
No Trades today...I'm all cash...I sold SSRI for a large percentage loss the other day but it was a lunch money play...Glad I did tho...it tanked today...Best, Doug

I prepared a new page called Market Trends at http://SharpTraders.com ...Scroll down the Table of Contents to find the Market Trends page.
I illustrate a very simple way to help you determine the trend. I use Weekly Charts over the last 15 years...It would be best for most to use Daily Charts but I wanted to show a longer time frame...Short Term Traders may want to use Intraday Charts.
I have also prepared some charts to show you how I day trade the ETF's...I will post them tomorrow.
Please take a look...Thanks, Doug
In addition to the Market Trend Charts I put up yesterday I have added two(2) pages of QID and QLD charts to give you a basic idea of how I try to trade them.
Please take a look at http://SharpTraders.com (http://sharptraders.com/)
Scroll down the Table of Contents on the left...You will see that they are the last three(3) pages.

Thanx Hags.
I only showed one of my actual trades from last week...I usually am not around to catch most of those moves...But, I must say that what I put up there on the ETF's as examples is like paper trading...Real Life is not so easy...Hangups, bad limits, whipsaws etc...I don't know but from my earlier paper trading experiences on daytrading my guess is that REAL LIFE will return 30 to 50% less than DT paper trades...That is why you see so many of my posts that say I made something like .20 or .25 a share...If there was a voice recognition broker I think I could make a lot more...Basically, I only make part of a usually larger move...Even when I make a perfect call.
Best, Doug

You can short them...But I never have...If you are really astute you might be able to do better doing that...I never tried...But I will tell you one thing...This 2x thing is only a TARGET...Really has no basis in reality...Check back...They move on supply/demand...Best, Doug

Day-trading QID today.... Funny how it mirrors AAPL ain't it?.... I love the volume.
Ok...I spent all weekend putting up charts showing you what to do at
my site...Guess it is a good time to show you what not to do.
Today I day traded QID 2x for plus .66 and plus .63sh.
I also day traded QLD for minus 1.23sh.
What went wrong on the last trade?...It was a good buy point...But it
turned against me and I should have taken a small loss...That's just
part of the game.

Today was so volatile...I only got a quick +.25 on QID...I did miss 2 trades because someone in my office interrupted me...One would have worked well...The other one...Tough to say 'cause it went up and down so fast it is highly questionable as to whether or not I could've gotten out w/ a profit...The rest...I just just shut down my trading desk and watched...Looked too tough...For me anyway...Doug

When this mess started it's melt down what sectors where in the lead to the fall. Was it the home builders or the finanice side.
I guess, what I'm asking is, The first to fall are they the first to get back up or is there no merit to this train of thought. MEA

The craziest and nastiest if one is on the wrong side.
I think we need to see DOW 7200 before things settle down a bit. Today was the perfect day, but some iditos decided to "hold up" the market. I wish we closed -600 and opene -500 on Monday and then a huge reversal on huge volume.
Luckily, I am like you. In and out. Profit or loss, I dont hold it overnite.
Today: Only one trade QLD +.48
Only made 5 trades the last 3 days...One, because I was busy...But more
importantly because the market was chaotic vis-a-vis volatile...Too
tough altho I ended up having a pretty decent week
Mystiky...I GUARANTEE I will call the bottom...Unfortunately I will not be able to do it till about a month after it happens...I posted that on my chat today...Got a few chuckles
Here are some stocks that meet all the earnings and projection criteria for my IIC 100 list...However, they are in the
bottom 10% of my Relative Strength(RS) Database of 5600 equities. My RS does not necessarily match other's RS
due to the number of stocks in my database and the treatment of IPO's...But since the formula is pretty basic it should
be fairly close.
I used to run this list weekly...I called it "Undiscovered Gems"...However, others referred to it as "Dumpster Diving"
I'd hardly recommend going out and buying these stocks...But you may want to do some DD and possibly put some on watch for when things turn around.

Well...In today's IBD they called a "Confirmed Rally"...That was the first sign of trouble...Today was extremely tough for a trader like me...It just moved tooooo fast...I think I need to enroll in the Evelyn Wood Speed Trading Course...lol
After 6 trades yesterday I watched today...I wasn't about to try anything until later on when I saw a "Classic" move as I posted on the chat...I caught a very small portion of the move... Actually, I had not planned to trade today...When I came online I
didn't see the VectorVest Real Time...only the eod stuff I had
downloaded over the weekend...So I called them after a while...They
had not sent me the R/T software download link.
So they sent it within a few minutes...Took about 20 mins to set it
all up which they had mentioned that it would.
I love this thing...RealTime Sectors, Groups and over 8000
stocks...Just what the doctor ordered...I've always been a big
believer in trading the best stocks in the Groups du Jour...But I
needed real time groups.
Anyway, since I had explored the reg. VV over the weekend I got the

Made 3 trades today...HIG, CAL SOLF...all worked out well altho I
sold HIG and SOLF way early.

So you're a Vector-Vest subscriber now?
Do you do the daily downloads or the online version? If you get the downloads then you automatically get the online stuff.

Actually...I am not interested in their indicators and opinions...altho I will check them out later.
All I wanted was their RealTime Sectors and Industry Groups...I am a strong believer in buying the best movers(when they are technically right) in the strongest moving groups...After one day I am very pleased.
With the R/T I think I get almost everything...Doug

So..... did you subscribe to the download version or the online version? or are you still just test driving it?

I had to download 3 or 4 things...I tried the trial for 29.95 for a month after that it is 129mo or about 1300yr.

Vector-Vest offers two ways to access their data base....
(1) One, is to access it online.
(2) Two, is to install the entire data base in your computer (CDs) and then update the data base with a daily (nightly) download. This is by far the best option (if for no other reason, it's MUCH MUCH faster to do research). The online version can be rather slow sometimes and less user friendly.... Plus if you do the downloads you also get the online access automatically, in case you need to access the data base when you're away from your primary computer.
I've subscribed to Vector-Vest since the late 90's and attended their siminars. I've also negotiated packages and price with them a time or two. I highly recommend the service. After your trial expires they will call you and bug you to continue.... If you'd like my opinion on what to bargan with them on.... just ask.

I just talked to Vector-Vest and I stand corrected. With the RealTime data that you are testdriving.... You also get everything that I have including the downloadable version. EXCEPT you don't get the "Protrader Graphs".... that's extra.
Seems their packages have changed since I last negotiated my prices with them. For example: You used to have to pay extra for the "Super Extended data base" now that's standard.... I'll need to check my records but I think I made them "throw in" the "ProTrader Graphs" with my subscription, a $400 value.
All I am using now is the RealTime sectors and groups...Helped me trade ADM and IPI this morn...So far I'm 5 for 5 on the ideas I got from them...But I will be busy now for at least 3 hours or so ...maybe will not get any more chances today...thx

Market Call changed from Correction Under Pressure to Market In Correction today. Visit http://sharptraders.com and click the Market Call page over to the left.
Traded WFMI early...Later when I could find no stocks to watch I
traded QLD 1x and QID 2x...nice day...Doug
Traded MT for +.25 and STP for +.09. Got screwed up both times...On MT
my stockcharts stopped working so I just sold out...way early.
On STP I actually should have scratched as it went up a little but
then I got interrupted...came back and I was down...but the group was
coming back up and I ended up with some pocket change...Overall a nice
week...Love this VectorVest RealTime Sectors/Groups...This weekend
I'll actually read the instructions but it is one heckuva useful tool
for me...Made at least some $$$ on 12 of 12 trades this week and a few
ended up being very good.
I also need to get a little more organized with all the sites I have
up...with the addition of VectorVest I ended up having more than I
could follow up a few times this week...Doug

Well, missed morning trades cause I was watching to see if the Mining,

Traded QID 2x and QLD 2x...caught some on 3 outta 4...nothing to write
home about but a gain's a gain...Doug

Only one trade QID +.30sh.
Also, this morning I got an email from someone telling me that SharpTraders.com got a mention at Seeking Alpha....Check the last paragraph.

Strange day and I missed some of the good parts...ECL +.09, MT -.70, QID +1.20, UYG +.10...Doug
IBD out to lunch again...Read tomorrow's Big Picture...They say the Naz dipped below 1500 today for the first time since 2003...Where the heck they been? It closed at 1499.21 yesterday...and it also was down intraday to 1493.79 on 10/24...Sheesh...Wake Up IBD!!!
Missed most of the day but I was able to snag another dime off of UYG
and I made +.68sh on QID.
Oh...And I bot 1 mil. shares of TZA at 85.50 and sold at the
close...Too bad it was only a paper trade.

Not much of a day...Made some on CYH, UYG, QLD and lost some on MO...I believe I may have made enough for a tank of gas
Today...QID and UYG 2x...made some on all 3 but lately I sometimes feel that I'm running on fumes.
Anyway...Here's where your bailout money has been going:

Well the UYG ATM machine finally swallowed my card...the streak is over at 6. However, I traded it again and got my money back plus some.
Traded QID 2x today...Did pretty good although not as good as I could've if I had held longer...Doug
Busy but a nice day as I scalped my new fave UYG early and traded QID 3x...Interesting...I've been watching UYG for some time b4 I decided to try it...It is very consistent with the short term technicals I use along with the $DJUSFN heavyweight components.
Wasn't around much today...Caught QID this morning for +1.01...Of
course it goes up about 2 more bux afterwards...Late I went to the atm
machine and withdrew +.14sh on UYG.
On another note we closed our account at C today.
Have a good weekend...Doug
One of the criteria to be added to the S & P 500 is a market cap of $4 billion...According to my calculations only 315 of the current components meet that criteria at the close on Friday...Doug

Doug, what is IIC?
Nothing to write home about but today I traded:
BTU +.22
PAAS +.05
QID +.28
QLD +.22
UYG -.03
Doug
Doug, what is IIC?
Back over 10 years ago when I joined Forums my screen name was InvestorsInformationCenter...Most people didn't like that long of a name and somebody started calling me IIC for short...Other forums wouldn't allow that long of a name either...So it just evolved into just plain old IIC
Traded TRA +.21, DHI +.21, AKS +.03 and I made my first 3x buy on TNA
which I heldover as the RUT and Naz Comp go to CONFIRMED RALLY where
we have the ema's at 4>8>20. The Naz was last in Confirmed Rally mode
on August 17th...Doug
Yesterday:
Market remains in Confirmed Rally...$Rut SP 600 and SP 400 ended green.
I sold TNA before I left for work +.55. Also traded ENER +.41 and
JOYG -.16...Doug
Wasn't around much today...Bot AMR and heldover...Click Link for a
Daily Chart of AMR: http://sharptraders.com/_wsn/page17.html (http://sharptraders.com/_wsn/page17.html)
Also, MARKET CALL remains in Confirmed Rally but some indicators a bit
shaky here...Tomorrow is Quadruple Witching...Doug
I was sick yesterday...no trades...must've eaten something bad Thursday 'cause I'm fine now...Doug

Market has almost been putting me to sleep...but I keep plugging away and altho our tax accounts didn't do much this year our cash accounts did better than last year. I will day trade more in the tax accounts next year...You can day trade as many times as you want to in tax accounts (as well as non margin cash accounts for that matter) as long as you use settled funds...might as well keep that money busy as much as possible.
Today: GME +.21 UTIW +.11 YGE +.07 JASO +.09
Traded GNK +.21sh and carried SFD and AMR into 2009
I had a series of personal and work related mini-disasters this
morning so no buys.
However, they did come up and take out my limit sell on AMR which I
bot on 12/18...That was +.25sh and then before I hit the road I put in
a limit sell on SFD which I bot 2 days ago...They came up and took me
out on that for +.33.
So I'm green YTD...Maybe I'll just quit now and call it a

Doug,

What a great day...I made some on SMN. my DSL is back up and I got my new glasses
Made some on CVH...Made some on QLD...Bot BEAV and I am down but heldover...The first 2 were in my tax account...BEAV is in my wife's IRA...I told her...At least I made more money than you lost...She didn't appreciate that comment...Her response..."Give me my password to my account"...Doug
Well...It looks like many of my problems I had since about January 10th are now resolved...Sheesh...That Angel in my Pocket must've been on vacation...The net access problem at home for 3 weeks was a pain...I had wireless but that isn't all that fast...I had a multitude of other little things going on...But my main concern was an eye problem...Not sure I mentioned that one as I had all kinds of other little distractions going on.
Finished the last battery of tests yesterday and am relieved that I am not going to go blind any time soon...Just getting old I guess.
Only made 38 trades ytd...Which is not really very many for me in 5 weeks...Going well...All I own is BEAV which did not go according to plan but seems good now...I like MDVN here.
During this busy hectic time I still kept up the IIC 100 and MoMo Lists at the site...I plan on getting back to the Cups w/ Handles next weekend...I just wasn't up to it the last month.
Best to All...Doug
Got out of BEAV today at 11.35...Was a one week wild ride +.31...Traded TRA +.24 and SKF +1.03 today...Now I am all cash and feeling good about it...Doug
Started out with a great trade on QID...then SKF which was whacko but I pulled out some...Then a pretty good trade on QID...Shoulda quit
there...Made another trade on QID but lost...OK...Nobody is 100%...But
then I made a final trade on QID...Was losing again but I doubled
down...Not a smooth move...Overall I did not lose much but that last
trade wiped out an otherwise pretty decent day...Doug
Sheesh...This is tough...Actually, I'm doing pretty good YTD...But it seems like it is getting tougher and tougher...I made a couple of "Cowboy" trades this week...Shootin' From The Hip...Hopefully I got that outta my system.
Today I made some decent money on CAL and a little on AKS early on the group action at the time...Lost on UYG at the end...Not too bad tho.
I REALLY love VectorVest Real Time...Had it since the first weekend in November....Only $129mo. (Cheaper if you pay for a year in advance) I know absolutely nothing about their system and all the stuff I get w/ my sub...I just wanted it for the R/T groups...They have 226 groups...You can see all the components and you can watch the group charts in R/T...They make it easy to quickly download all the components too...I personally think it is SUPER DUPER when I'm trying to play the movers in the moving groups....That is one thing I learned a long time ago via IBD...I'll give 'em that.
There was an article about the movers in the moving groups in IBD the other day http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Investors-Corner-How-To-Find-ibd-14322354.html Fine, BUT...IBD's groups are laggard...Their group ratings are based on performance in the last 6 months...regardless of what their so called experts tell you at the Expos....Sure...They tell you at DGO what the Top 10 of the day are...But it is 20 min. delayed and maybe I wanna see what group is # 11...For example this morning I was watching Airlines...They were not a top group but they seemed to have hit a short term bottom and I bot CAL on the technicals as the group moved up.
I don't care what has moved for the last 6 months...I wanna know what's moving NOW!!!!
Best To All...Doug(IIC)

Alot of BAC holders at Scottrade got this email...So did JPM holders...Did somebody screw up and let the cat outta the bag?...Was it a hack job?...Is it just a minor detail?...I don't know, however, I contacted ST and am waiting for a reply...I did not get the email.

I'm still around but I'm trying to stay focused...Today was good...I even lucked out on one trade because my computer froze and I had to re-boot..It was QLD and I was offline during the drop that I woulda sold on...When I got back online it was going up so I held till I covered my commish and got some extra pocket change...Other than that I traded TRA QID-2x and ORLY...Nice day...Best, Doug
Yesterday was nice as I traded CAB, COCO, PPS...All cash into the weekend as I sold PPS near the end.
Altho Lamarr gave up posting the IIC 100 results (Not that I blame him) the list is still around every week...Not doing very well but sometimes a few come thru.
You can always take a look every week on my Stockcharts.com page.
One interesting thing is that I have had to continually lower the criteria just to get 100.
This week if I use the original criteria we would only have the IIC 23. The top 23 are not necessarily the ones on the list though...That is because the criteria I have lowered has nothing to do with how I sort them once I get the list.
For next week's complete list go to http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/Favorites.CServlet?obj=ID1659925 (http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/Favorites.CServlet?obj=ID1659925)
Here are the 23 that meet the original criteria:
COCO, KGS, ATHN, BEAT, ASEI, MYL, LNCE, FGXI, TNDM, CSKI, APEI, MED, CPLA, ATAX, DMND, VASC, WES, LPHI, CELG, ANW, FSLR, TCAP, IPI

yeah, I got that e-mail. I never called ST to find out what the offer was all about, but I did do some googling to see if I could figure it out. No dice, though- just lots of rumors and speculation about it.
I bought BAC at 6, then got some more yesterday for $3. My wife picked some up at $4, also. I don't yet believe that BAC will fail, but I do worry about a government intervention that wipes out us shareholders... as long as BAC weathers this mess ok, I see it coming back to a $20 or $30 stock again eventually. Of course, I also thought LJPC would make it, so....

I'm sorry...I forgot to post the followup...I called ST on Tuesday...At that point they were not much help...There was a woman at ST Forums who was rather upset so I suggested she call BAC IR...She did...I believe La Tam is a So. American Bank.
I did as Doug had suggested and called BAC Investor Relations (704-386-5681) as well. Ms Blacks recording gave this Shareholder Relations # (800-521-3984). Called it and spoke with Ms Renea. She stated that BAC was not making a Tender Offer, that LaTam was.
I called ST. They are now informing us that it is indeed LaTam.
Today was interesting...But it was tough...I spent most of the day watching airlines...UAUA -.06 QLD -.06 SKF +1.28 AMR +.10...But a gains a gain so I won't complain...I was telling everybody at the chat that the financials were a sucker punch early...Maybe I should start listening to my myself (SKF)...Of course I could always move to the Cayman Islands since my bailout tax dollars are helping the likes of the big bailout banks help people avoid US taxes...Did you hear how many US Financials have subsidiaries in CI today???...Doug
Posted a dream chart at ST last night of SMN...But...
Well...I did make +.42 on it before it really tanked...Others today...JWN -.05 M -.07 QID -.24 QID +.70 and then I had a bout of temporary insanity...LEN -.39...Look at a chart...I owned it before it went up to 7.88...Sheesh...Hope I don't do that again...Doug
Today was nothing to write home about but I'll take it...It was a WORKING ON DISCIPLINE DAY
QID +.13
BIG +.04
AKAM +.05
EPIQ +.07
QID +.17

Had to lower the criteria for the 14th time just to get 100.
You can view the IIC 100 at:
http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/Favorites.CServlet?obj=ID1659925
Using the original criteria established in 2004 we would have the IIC 17 this week.
COCO, TNDM, BEAT, MYL, LNCE, WES, CPLA, ATAX, APEI, DMND, CSKI, MED, LPHI, VASC, ATHN, AMT, ANW
One might think that the 17 should be the Top 17 on my list...This is not the case as I use a set of minimum criteria (mostly fundamental) just to make the list but I use different parameters to sort the list...Thanks, Doug

Doug,
Don't you agree that we are going to go much lower on the DOW? I'm looking at 6,000, but my sister's company paid a guy $12k to tell them 3,700. I'm coming to the conclusion that he may be right.

This market is too tough and my time is short...Only traded the 2x Q etfs the last 2 days... 9 for 11...I'm not complaining altho the gains per share are not all that...My wife went to NYC today (PARTY TIME AT MR. BREAKOUT's HOUSE)...She called me this evening (After checking her trade emails) and said...Well, thanks for making me enough to pay for my Cab Fare to Brooklyn (Her sister's house) from JFK....I said 'You shouldn't be such a BIG tipper".
Geez...Didn't realize that I had not updated in so long...Things going well on the DT front and I sold UYG yesterday and 90% of BAC today in the last 15 mins...Doug

Another penny pitcher...Made some on KSU C QID UYG...then bot QID and heldover...Also tried to sell some more BAC at 6.92 AFTER it went from 6.95 down to 6.90...No Takers :(
Made 5 dt's today...4 up...1 down...But overall I lost money...Time to regroup here
Bailed on the remainder of BAC...Made less than 10 cents a share each on FAS, FAZ, C for dt's...Got stopped out on QID and I am 100% cash and glad of it...YTD...Pretty good...Gotta get over holding anything over and it would be even better I presume...Best, Doug

Made some DT $$$ on LDK and AXP...Sold FAS at a little over 6.98 and I am still holding 60% of BAC and I still have UYG...Doug
Well...Only one person on the Net called me on my Bernie math...Altho I assume that many just said softly under their breath..."Why doesn't IIC shut up"???

Any thoughts on holding BoA and C or selling em? Financial seem on a down curve the last couple of days.
Don't like C...But more of a personal thing.
Financials may go down a bit here...But weekly indicators tell me that there "May" be some nice upside potential over the next month or so.
These outfits have gotten "Welfare Money" from the Gov't...My take is that they will use it to their advantage...Buy toxic assets for 30% value w/ Gov't $$$ and sell them at 60%+...They gotta racket goin' on....if they can't make it work then we might as well close shop.
I don't like it...But not enough to not try to take advantage of it myself...Best, Doug

Nice gains Dougy.
Friday I traded QLD 2x for some small gains and QID 1x for a small loss.
At the end of the day I sold WFC, FAS, UYG...Worked out nicely although I would have been better off waiting about 2 mins to sell.
All I own right now is the remainder of BAC.

Today I traded AMR early and FAS later...Worked out well
Made +.02 and +.03 on FAS and +.12 on QLD today
I promised the Scottrade Forum a BIG move today last night because today is my B-Day...I'm 56...Look 36...And act 16...LOL

The reason they are not the Top 20 in the IIC 100 is that I have a set of minimum parameters to make the list...But I use different criteria for the ranking sort once I have 100 stocks.
Thanks, Doug

Tough question...I have one of the early 60's copies of Jiler's book...Good basic info to get started imo and I re-read it every year or so:
http://www.amazon.com/Charts-Market-Contrary-Opinion-Library/dp/0870340972
Technical Analysis is a bunch of VooDoo Mumbo Jumbo imo...The basics are really all one needs...If you look at the charts I post you probably say to yourself..."Geez...Who can follow all these things"???...But you do not need to...Many of the indicators on my charts are for others...I like confirmation...But most are hardly necessary...Best, Doug

Doug,
I know it's proprietary info. but how can RINO be #1 or #2 in the IIC 100 when it doesn't meet the criteria that at least 26 other stocks do in your new list? Keep up the good work. It's appreciated.

It was funny at the chat this morn when some said they were surprised I traded stocks rather than QID and QLD. Well...They are new...I have not traded stocks for a few months altho I do hold TIE.
The reason I trade the Q's Ultras is not because I think they are the best trades...It is because w/ the time I have they are easier.
But if I am gonna be jobless I'd much rather trade stocks so I figured why not get back into the swing of things.
I still use the same indicators...But rather than T & S and Market Movers as a supplement I use the R/T groups and news for stocks.
Did well on ACAS and also made some on MAR...Hotels are not a real exciting group and I did get juked out w/ a small gain on MAR...just b4 it took off...But it went well altho I'm a little rusty on stocks....Gimmee a couple days to get back into stocks....BUY THE BEST MOVERS IN THE MOVING GROUPS.

well being that friday is only a half day volume should still be light...this could be more of a bullish scenerio developing....im a price and volume guy and the bears would want friday to be an up day being that going up on lighter volume is bearish so imo going down on lighter volume will be bullish...i think the dubai thing will blow through the markets quickly.
Not particularly concerned about Dubai itself...But is the beginning of a trend???...Doug

I thought Dubai was wealthy....Guess they charged too much on their credit card. I'm amazed that our own government continues to spend money that they don't have. It makes no sense at all.
If this is the beginning of a trend, we are in for some very hard times.

A retired priest friend of mine gives motivational speeches for corporations. One of them sent him to Dubai on a free vacation this fall. He said the hotel room was around $4000
per night. Can that be right?

He must've gone in the off season...when I go I always stay in the Royal Suite...see # 8 http://hotels.uptake.com/blog/worlds-most-expensive-hotel-suites-3715.html
Actually, I did a cursory search at some travel sites and I found one hotel there for $52 nt...The review said "3rd class and the people who work there are thieves"...Altho there are some others I found in the $1500-$4000 nt range it appears that there are plenty of rooms available in the $200 to $350 range.
Lets just be glad this never happened:
