I have decided to formally document my incredible streak of 44 consecutive profitable trades of 15% or better. You know when ESPN did that graphic to show all of Barry Bonds’ 73 home run swings? Pretty cool, right?

For historical purposes, I felt it important that I show the documentation for all of my trades as they were posted on the internet (most of them on Yahoo message boards). These posts validate the time stamps when I entered the positions in real time. This is clear evidence that I am, in all likelihood, the greatest stock picker on the planet. For you perfectionists, some of the buy prices in the message may not match up to the prices in the table on the account of the fact that the stock may have split after my purchase. Also, since some of the tickers for these companies no longer exists, the associated message board was deleted and there is no record available on the internet of my analysis for these companies. So here they are:

Huge One,

I am QUITE impressed. I totally believe in building one own's wealth to secure one's own future. I, for one, am certainly not going to count on Social Security or my super slow growth pension fund to provide me with the monies I hope to have when I retire. I appreciate not only your stock-picking prowess, but your impressive documented track record of the last two years. My question to you is what percentage has your entire portfolio risen since January '02? Looking at the above trades (and understanding that some of your holdings are still in company's that haven't yet gone up 15%,) my guess would be around 200 - 300%, which would be awesome. Of course it is hard to know if how much (percetage-wise) of your portfolio is still in stocks that you are waiting to appreciate 15% and what percentage of your portfolio you have turned over 5,6,or 7 times (compounding the 15% gains.) I am very much interested to know (if that is ok with you.)

Thanks,

The Kid

... My question to you is what percentage has your entire portfolio risen since January '02? ...Hi Kid,

you could get a conservative estimate when you divide the number of closed trades by the (maximum) number of stock slots (14), from which we learn that the whole portfolio turned over thrice (and a bit). That makes some 50% compounded over this period (assuming +15% on each closed trade). Then correct for the open positions, if you like. In any case, no mean loot to take from the claws of the bear, but this year's bull has helped a lot, of course. We see 10 closed trades opened in 2002; the rest come from 2003 (and counting!).

Regards,

Karel

I have been quietly following your recs. and doing incredibly well.I am curious why even post on Elite trader when most of the comments seem to bashyou and refute your trades. From a selfish point of view I do not want your following to get so big that your buys and sells affect the price .
Your trade recs speak for themselves. Don't waste your time defending against the non-believers. :D

Karel,

Thank you very much for doing the math. I guess I didn't realize he had so many open positions at one time. (Hey, I'm relatively new here......cut me a break. :) ) A 50% gain in about 23 months is indeed very good. If our new young friend DiamondD starts his Roth IRA at age 20, puts in the maximum amount each year, and sees those kind of results, he could probably retire before he is 40.......on the ROTH account alone! Nice job, Mr. Market. (Unfortunately, as I have not been such a wise investor, I'm trying to make even bigger gains later in life to make up for such silly mistakes, errors and mis-reads early on. That is why I find this website invaluable. :) )

Huge One, I too found out an a very early age that life can be a joke (yet still very precious.) That is why I too like having a little fun.....thus some of my good-natured posts. I once again thank you for sharing your info, insight and stock history on this website.......and hope to share a drink (and fine meats and cheeses) with you on the same island where the man who invented the pet rock retired. (Afterall, he not only realized how much of a joke life was........but he profited handsomely from it. 8) )

Hi MM,

I have followed some of your recent purchases and sales, it been a profitable trip  thank you!

I still hold AMHC, they announced a 100% div or a split just like wsbk, would you continue to hold until after the split?

Thanks,

Interesting Note:

I am not quite sure which stocks Mr. Market held in the beginning of the year, but I believe his portfolio consisted of the following: PTSI, AXL, CHKE, ODFL, RATE, AVD, JFBC, LCI, OHB, ACMR, FRED, AND MDC

If you owned (and invested evenly) in these on 1/1/03 and held them through the present, then your portfolio would be up roughly 60% today. Not a bad one year return, plus you would avoid all the trade commisions. Finally, if you are not trading stocks in an IRA, you could wait a month (to hold the stocks a year) and reduce your taxes. Just something to think about.

I'm up a lot more than 60%. My trade commissions are extremely small. I am trading in an IRA.

Ernie,

I do my trading in an IRA account at Etrade. They charge $25 maintenance fee a year and limit orders are $20. Can you recommend a better company to use? I have been with Etrade a long time and trust them but their limit order price is a tad high. I would consider switching for cheaper trades.

Thanks for any insight your hugeness!

I trade with Scottrade. They have great service, and a $7 market order commission. ($12 limit orders)

I hear that Freetrade is cheaper ($2-3 commissions) but I haven't tried it. They don't have IRA's- much of my trading is in IRA's.

My experience with Etrade has been less than satisfactory. I'd recommend dumping them as your broker.

MoeMaynard, I am not a financial adviser either. Remember financial advisers are people who are so bad at handling their own money, that they actually have to work for a living.....so they 'earn' their money trying to tell people how to handle theirs! Struck me kinda funny.....

I would recommend you look into Ameritrade. They do handle IRA accounts and I believe they charge about $10.95 a trade, regardless if it is market or limit. But please, as with every trade you make, do your own homework and then make your own decisions. Empowerment is far better than following.

I like Brown&Company http://brownco3.com . Trades are $5, $10 for limit orders, no maintenance fee. Min $5000 to open an IRA.

I opened an account with scottrade in July. I was really scared to make the first trade......but you should watch me now! It is really easy and if I have a problem, they walk me through the steps. I used Edward Jones for years and found that my broker had the best landscaped yard on the block! He was landscaping his yard with all of the commission checks he made from me (He is my neighbor). My trading style was changing because I was learning so much from this board. You guys gave me the confidence to do it myself. I have been slowly transfering my positions to my scottrade account so I can control them. I trade every day and I am saving so much money in commissions ($7.00 vs $50+ per trade). You do the math! I now have two new vehicles (Volvo and an F-150 supercab) on my driveway and my broker is livid. I love it! I wonder if I will get that basket of fruit this Christmas from him. Whatdoyathink?
I have learned so much from this group. Thanks Guys!

Hey Ernie,

Recommending a broker does not make you a financial planner! :)

Thanks people, I opened a Scottrade account yesterday and am putting my IRA with them. The $8 a trade I'll save will add up quick in this crazy market. Too bad you can't trade options in an IRA :(

I bought VLGC today at 2.90 at the open....should have sold at 3.10 but maybe I'll hold for a few days. This market is on fire.

Quick question, do you short, becuase your method does seem to work very well in a bullish market like we have now, but if you take a look at pretty much all your stock pics, they all take off in march, the same time the bull market began. So im just wondering when the markets start to reverse, are you going to short?

Hey Ernie,

Recommending a broker does not make you a financial planner! :)

Thanks people, I opened a Scottrade account yesterday and am putting my IRA with them. The $8 a trade I'll save will add up quick in this crazy market. Too bad you can't trade options in an IRA :(

FYI...YOU CAN TRADE OPTIONS IN AN IRA AT SCOTTRADE...IIC

I've just signed up with Freetrade, a new division of Ameritrade.

First 20 trades per month are commission-free. All business is transacted via email, eliminating overhead and making the service viable.

Good point. Don't confuse brains with a bull market.

Groups I see that show relative strength: oil and nat gas exploration, propane marketers, fuel providers (INT), REITs, Recreation vehicle-related, a few auto industry parts makers, a few drugs, several insurance-related, finance companies and small banks. There are bullish pockets out there.

There are also pockets of bull sh** out there. So be careful, people.

I have followed His HUGENESS for almost 4 years and have made money from his rec's as well. He does a great job in uptrending markets as we have had since March of 2003.

Interactivebrokers: $1.00/100 shares.

My buys and sells are emailed. Everything else is here on the board. That's what everyone wanted.
