View Full Version : CCBI...calm me please!
Just tell me ( and possibly others) that I have not jinxed your HUGENESS by making my very first buy into one of your picks. I am used to getting killed in the market, but it would be tragic to attach my bad investment luck to your long (actually huge) winning streak. Tell me CCBI is still OK, OK?
Good luck to us all, Jao :?

Like a friggin' parasite, I sold some of my CCBI shares yesterday.
(Don't worry, jao, I, and more importantly, the Huge One, still think it will do fine. 8) )

If you are worried about a stocking going down, why are you in the market?

Nice upward movement today...up over 3%. I doubt it is on last week's news of opening the new Riverside County banking office, although news of branching out into populous (and media savvy) Los Angeles County was nice. Having bought into this one at $19.29, I am debating selling my remaining holdings of it at a ten percent profit ($21.21) though I will probably hang on to get my fifteen percent at $22.18 as it was my first Huge One stock I purchased and I would like to stay all the way (at least with the shares I still hold...the rest is off making money with PRX and SSNC. :D )

Ernie,
I got the obligatory 15% on that one, but I shudder when I think about what my dad did during that same time. He and I bought at the same time at 38.50, a bit behind you as usual. I held and sold finally at 44.30 after that INSANE roller coster ride down, up, down, up, down and finally back up. My dad, on the other hand, panicked. He sold at 32, then when it started back up he re-bought at 34. He then sold again, and bought again, all-in-all making only about 7% when he finally sold out with me at 44.30. Not only was it funny to watch, but it hopefully taught him a valuable lesson. Since then he has been a bit more patient, and therefor successful.
Oh, CCBI is about at our target also, another AWESOME pick!!!!!

Don't get me wrong...some people love the 8% stop loss rule. If someone doesn't have the appetite for risk and/or if somone really doesn't understand the fundamental business model behind why a company's earnings WILL continue to grow, then panic selling is a neccessity. That's also why some people will NEVER make money in the stock market if they love a stock only because it's going up and then get scared when it goes down. What they are doing is perfecting the buy high / sell low strategy.
Holding a stock because you're stubborn is not a good idea. Selling a stock because you're scared is not a good idea. Making a sound investment decision, when buying or selling, is usually a pretty good idea.
This should calm you down a bit:
