So I was on the internet the other day when I clicked on two links. The pages started to load and then my computer started to freeze up so I closed the two programs. Nothing unusual since I have dial-up. Then internet explorer started giving me a visuall c++ runtime error. It says that this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an usual way. It does this every time I get on the browser and sometimes more than one window pops up. I can still use it if I don't click the ok button because once I do the browser closes. I tried to repair it. I tried to download internet explorer 7 but it didn't work. I tried to download service pack 2 and it didn't work. Microsoft update doesn't work. I did a scan with norton antivirus and nothing. I did a scan with adaware and nothing. I restore my web settings to their default and nothing. I downloaded mozilla firefox, which works, but the problem is if I open any program, any one at all, when I try to open firefox it tells me that some kind of a dll is either missing or not working and then I have to reinstall the program. It only takes about a minute but I shouldn't have to reinstall it every time I open a text document. I went to the microsoft website and for 59 dollars they might be able to help... I just want to be able to use internet explorer like I have for many years without this problem.

Maybe you need to reformat your hard drive??

Also, I use Anti-Cyber Crime which I find is much better than Norton.

Before you do anything though...Run this free virus scan from Trend Micro...They find things that Norton does not.

also do your scans in safe mode at least once a month...if that doesn't work, buy a mac.
