First of all...What kind of a job are you interested in?
Also, where do you live?

Cosmic, I have just the job for you Dude!
As long as you don't have a felony, don't mind shift work and don't mind getting in a fight every once in a while we're good to go. Let me know if you're interested.
As long as you don't have a felony, don't mind shift work and don't mind getting in a fight every once in a while we're good to go. Let me know if you're interested.I just saw a show about San Quentin prison in California. They said that there are anywhere from 200 to 400 inmates who eat in the cafeteria at once, and there are only two guards, armed with only pepper spray and batons, assigned to watch over them. I'm glad somebody is willing to do that job, 'cause I surely would not be.
I'm not sure exactly what kind of work I want, I applied for what I thought might have been an accounting job and didn't hear back, also applied for a data entry job and they said that over a hundred other people applied. I'd like something to do with numbers, data entry or analysis. I live in Waterloo, Iowa.
If I sold a stock on the 25th and I bought another one, can I then sell that on Monday to buy another? The way I am reading the rules suggests that I can and my account showed no pending settlements. I went to place the trade (which would take place tomorrow) and warned me it was a possible free ride. How do daytraders get away with it?
There are 2 rules you should be aware of...Regulation T and NASD Rule 2250...We have had discussions about this before if you do a search...although some rules have changed a little bit since we first started posting about them a couple of years ago.
Basically though, to daytrade you need a cash-margin account w/ at least $25,000 in it. As far as using unsettled funds here is how in works in a tax or non-margin account: Example...You have $5,000 in a cash/tax account...You buy Stock ABC with the whole $5,000...Then you sell it for $5,000...You can buy another stock with that money but you can't sell the second stock until the original sale on Stock ABC is settled...That is 3 business days from the date of sale. Actually, you can sell it but you will most likely get a nasty email threatening to put your account on restricted status. Although, they could put you on restricted status immediately I guess.
Now, if you had $5,000 in your account and only bot $3,000 of Stock ABC and then sold it you still have that $2,000 to trade w/o worrying about unsettled funds.
As far a daytrading, assuming you are using settled funds on each trade you can Day trade three times within any 5 day period (that the market is open) w/o restrictions...More than that you need to have $25,000+ in a cash-margin account.
One way around Day trading if you don't have enough money is to open multiple accounts.
The policies should be described on your Broker's website...Best, Doug(IIC)

My brother is going to Galt, CA Monday morning to the training center to become a prison guard at Folsom prison. My parents doesn't want him to go but he can't find a job as an engineer. So there's been a lot of yelling at my house over this. I guess any job is better then no job.

Stky,
If he gets the job, and it sounds like he did, he'll be doing life like Webs. Jeez, guys actually doing life imprisonment only do 14 years 6 months, before they're eligible for parole. That's alot less than life or until retirement.

I didn't know webs was a CO. I don't know if it's a good or bad field but from what Rob was saying, it sounded dangerous. My brother is not a big guy, he's 5'6" and I think the inmates are bigger...
I just now saw my brother cried for the first time in my life. Because he had to cut his hair short. I told him "your hair will grow back" and he gave me this evil look...

I'm not gonna say it's the very BEST career...But I doubt that there will ever be a lack of work in that field in our life time...Short...I doubt that is a problem...Guns don't care how big a person is...Hair...I used to have very long hair in the early 70's...I like it short now...Doug

Cosmic,
You have a nice state university nearby. My suggestion would be to enroll at UNI and take a few econ/business courses. Maybe you will find something you like in those fields, you already seem to like stock market. So maybe you can find a job in that area. Also alot of young women over their.
Maybe you can take care of two issues at one time...
Good luck

Ouch...doubly so, as I am hessian (kinda), too.
Yet, best of luck to your brother; perhaps, he should broaden his search?
