Would appreciate the formula and answer for the following puzzle:

If a chicken and a half lays an egg and a half in a day and a half, how many eggs would 6 chickens lay in 10 days?

Thanks.

Is this a homework question?

Try to find the amount of egg that one chicken can lay in one day.

Edit: It should be less than one.
Then find the total output/chicken over the time period by using the ratio you found above. Then, blam! game over.

Well, or you could just use google:

I keep coming up with 40 eggs

1.5C = 1.5E/1.5D switch that around to 1.5D = 1.5E/1.5C, solve for 1D and cancel the 1.5 on the right side gets 1D = 2E/3C or "in 1 day, 3 chickens lay 2 eggs" so, if you have 6 chickens, that's 4 eggs per day... over 10 days, that's 40 eggs.

Am I doing this right?

Southern folk love chicken... what do you think about GKIS???

Peanuts is correct. We should change his name to "eggs."

I also came up with 40, but not sure it is correct. Need the math forumla to be certain.

If Homer starts three different threads on $$$Mr. Market$$$'s HUUUUGE forum every week. And is reminded that it's best to keep his thoughts within one single thread each time.... How many times will he continue to clutter up the forum with new threads?.... My guess is 60.

Look at the bright side: he didn't buy PARL . . . .

1.5C x 1.5D = 1.5E

Now multiply both sides by 4:

4 x 1.5C x 1.5D = 4 x 1.5E

You get

6C x 1.5D = 6E

Now you know how many eggs 6 chickens will lay in 1.5 days.

To find out how many eggs they will lay in ten days, multiply both sides by 6.67, because 10 / 1.5 = 6.67:

6.67 x 6C x 1.5D = 6 x 6.67

Reduce that to:

6C x 10D = 40

So yes, 40 is the correct answer.

I've never seen a half chicken that could lay a half egg. I have seen a half baked chicken and a half scrambled egg though. What if half the eggs have double yolks? Then that changes everything!

What If PARL goes to $29 and since you weren't a chicken YOU bought some shares @ $20.50? Would you have egg on your face?
