Given your scenario, you would pick a blue chip or close to it and a company with a rock-solid 5-year future. You can't sell the stock if some piece of news doesn't come about, etc. You can't pick a fad stock or company.

One pretty good naive play would be SBUX. The trend it has created ain't going away in the next five years. And the barrier to entry to replicate what it has achieved has become astronomical.
