Should Mr. Market Ban IBD??????

IBD has been known to join forums in the past. I know, we caught them. They used an apparently fictitious name...Kelly Fenwick. When I called IBD and asked for Kelly I was told that no one by that name worked there...Geez, that was strange...Kelly used the williamoneil.com domain when they joined to access the forum. How do I know that? Simple...you just take the IP address and check it here...Second box down...nslookup at http://name.space.xs2.net/search/

Then you just block access from that domain...Of course it doesn't prevent anyone from joining from their home computer.

Well...calling you a few years later...that's not bad business...Are they hurting for subscribers? I don't know...They used to put their circulation on the paper...Last I remember it was 310,000 before they took it off...Why did they take it off?...I don't know...But a reasonable person would think that they took it off because it was going down.

But don't take my word for it...Let's take a look at the most respected organization for independent audits...Oh, the circulation is 201,000 now

I am proud to count myself as a member in good standing of the 33% club. I like their charts but grew very weary of the forums, the "finding" of stocks after they had made their run and a general lofty view of their own CANSLIM method while viewing any other investment method with disdain. I cancelled my subscription.

After all this legal stuff from the IBD lawyers being sent to some of my friends here and the numerous site owners I've known over the years...and others who I don't particularly like...I decided to go down to my private PO box today...which I have not checked in 3 months...to see if I got anything from http://www.silver-freedman.com/ ...The IBD attorney's...Nothing there...But they know my home address and phone number anyway.

I don't use any of their stuff to come up with my stuff that I post anyway...Don't need to...I agree...some have infringed trademarks...or copyrights...I never have...Don't need to...If I run a scan based on the info I have legit access to and some of the tix come up the same as they come up with...There is nothing wrong w/ that.

I've promised to keep my mouth shut on any individual cases...And I will keep my word...But I have heard many times over the years..."Why does IBD go after me...I actually give them free publicity"??? Well, I have no inside info...But my guess is that WON doesn't want your FREE publicity...but he can hire these lawyers who will try to play hardball with you...Even if you are right...You don't know what to say...Do you???

I feel bad for the people I know that try to make a buck offering what I consider to be good info that does not infringe...But I am not about to suggest that they handle it the same way I would....Doug

I've known Bruce for a few years...but only via the Net...I would love to meet him in person....He and I both know that we are not the same...But I certainly do respect his opinion and I believe he is very good for the type of investor he is.

This is from stuff he posted publically on another forum...so nothing confidential...In fact, I don't know him well enough for him to tell me anything confidential anyway...When IBD went after him he appeared distraught to me...He made a comment that he loved IBD...Well, my response was that IBD apparently does not love you.

He also mentioned that IBD wanted to charge him something like $1200yr to be able to post the "Smart Investor" article they published about him...I believe circa April '04. What a crock IMO...Who the h*ll do they think they are???

I went thru the Pre-interview for that Smart Investor feature in 6/02 or 6/03...Can't remember...Lucky I didn't make it to the second round...But they would never have published what I had to say anyway.

As far as Bruce and IBD...I feel bad for him...He does not take that type of abuse lightly IMO like I do...Personally, if I were him I'd make a final post at IBD Forums and tell them to Kiss my As*...But he is a lot nicer person than I am and I cannot imagine him doing that...Doug(IIC)

Sowers... I did my homework, quoted out the machinery, then went to the dealer I like best with my checkbook in my pocket (I know the manager personally too) I "hammered" him so freakin hard there was a pool of blood on the floor of his office when I left.lol.... I'm a hardass negotiator, I was so happy with myself, I just forgot to ask for the hat.lol Luckily there are three dealers within an hour of me. They are all enemies too. I love it!

#2 Rising 20 MA w/ closes staying above
#3 I may even wait on a test of $34.52 high

I didn't really get into the FA side.

I'm not a lawyer, but my friend has a friend who plays the part and is 100% successful. He shows up wearing a nice suit and briefcase and often doesn't have to speak. Works well in disputes with banks (hidden fees etc.) Most successful case was negating pre payment penalty in mortgage. Was in very small print. Where do they get micro fonts anyway?

Not too bad Shadow.... GEHL is not strictly a technical play for me. I like the Fundamentals very much. Here is a weekly chart I marked up just to present a different TA angle. I have found that 5 different TA folks can give you five different opinions of a chart. I do like to study weekly charts personally though.... I think "Spikefader" and "Runner" would advise you NOT to overlook weekly chart trends too.

I told the poster that IBD would never give a straight answer to a specific question and challenged any other poster to prove the purported gains. So far the only statements have been that their claims really haven't been as high as let on. No factual information. They can't hold a candle to Mr.Market.
