I've been lurking for several weeks and have enjoyed and learned much from the discussions here. I got wind of you guys through IDB's forum and was drawn to a thread about Mr. Market mainly 'cause he seemed so brash. Upon further review(sorry, I'm watching the ball game), I'm pretty well convinced of the hugeness.
I'm not much of a prolific poster, but I'm looking forward to engaging in some conversation with y'all. I've been swing trading for several months really focusing more on stops and position size and money management than where my picks are coming from. From a recent Mr. Market perspective, I've been in and out and in RIO again, went into JOSB and HOLX the same day convinced Joe Bank's was the better pick (biased because they'd been clothing me for years). I was wrong. Thank you Mr. Market.
I do some decent FA, but I'd consider my TA poor at best. I could see the setup and limited risk in a couple of ELN entries that Spike referred to in recent charts and have been in, out, and in with some success, but at this point I doubt I'd recognize them on my own and wouldn't begin to know how to screen for those setups. I'll get there (wherever there is).
So, hello to all!
Jeff

Hey Jeff.... Welcome to the Forum dude!
Welcome Jeff...FA...Cool, then you got something to add...Spike is the master technician...But the way I figure it is we all contribute what we know...and we all learn from those that know what we don't know...Doug(IIC)

Jeff,
When I came over to MM (whom I discovered at IBD--a paper I no longer waste my money on), I didn't know much either. I couldn't do a lick of TA when I came over. I received a lot of help here. (I lean heavily on the TA now). And what makes the gravy so thick over here is that everyone roots for the success of the other posters. We all welcome you aboard, and look forward to your FA posts. Some of us will post our TA of your FA. When the FA posters put up the best stocks, and the TA posters post the (hopefully) best entries and exits, the teamwork pays!

Thanks for the kind welcome, guys...

That 's certainly what I've seen over the last weeks, New-Born, and why I'm here. :D

welcome to the forum, dawg! You've found the best free investment site around. Congrats! Now use it to get stinkin' rich. I'm an FA guy, much like you, and though I read all the TA posts here, it still makes my head hurt. Maybe one of these days I'll figure it all out, but until then, I still have lots to learn, and I think this is perhaps the best place for sharing investment info.

Hi Jeff.
Welcome, dude :) Looking forward to some of your FA cuz my FA skills are poor at best heh :D
You're on the right track with "focusing more on stops and position size and money management than where (your) picks are coming from"! Ultimately good r/r, allocation and management does make a difference to the bottom line. I mean sure, it helps to have great picks, and time them well, and this sure is a great place to get ideas for good picks witha healthy balance of ideas on what makes for good timing. Lots of good smart characters to learn from and laff at, and the antics get people fired up every now and then but it always ends well cuz bottom line, as New born says, we're all rootin' fer each other.

Hi all!
I’m new here and thought I would follow SledDawg and introduce
myself. I hope I don’t annoy everyone too much with all the questions
I’m sure to ask. I can tell I’m among a knowledgeable group of investors
and I’m going to learn a lot.
I have invested on and off over the years but have been just your
average dumb money investor. I did manage to stay slightly
ahead but that's it.
I have since returned to the investing arena with a more serious
attitude and have been studying with a vengeance. Now, I believe
I have information overload! LOL, I’m still working on that issue.
I actually began paper trading about a year ago but I soon realized
that paper trading didn’t work for me. I then set up a separate
brokerage account for my “learning curve” money. Hopefully I will
master some trading skills before I have wiped out this account.
I will add to it when I feel more confident.
I don’t think I’m good day trading material as I lack the requirements
for it such as patience (still a work in progress) and the bladder
of a camel (don’t really want to test this theory). Right now I’m planning
on short and long term investing for starters and adding one portfolio
position for swing trading as I feel I'm able.
After hours of research I finally jumped into the market. So far I am
up 15.6% in 40 days. I do realize that’s not a bad for barely a month.
Can I repeat it? Do I really know how I did it? Beginners luck!
So far I do better with TA than FA BUT you all put me to shame.
I have so much to learn!
Oh...and thanks to IBD for banning Mr. Market; they led me right
here. :-D
Many happy returns to all

Hey Shadow,
Don't bogart my thread! ;)
Honestly the only reason I say that is many of the folks who have already welcomed me may not revisit this thread and you deserve the warm welcome I got.
Congrats on some excellent early results. Keep it up. and welcome.
Welcome Shadow...you'll find all types around here...many good ideas...Best...Doug(IIC)
